St. Malachy’s Memorial High School has been an AP school since 1999 and became the first Advanced Placement Capstone School in Atlantic Canada in 2015. We have a long and proud history of running an extensive AP program in N.B. and rank in the top 10 of public schools offering the AP program in Canada!

STM’s AP program offers students flexibility, choice, and the opportunity to personalize learning as students can select one or many AP courses depending on their interests. We are adding additional AP course and exam opportunities next year as STM’s AP program is continuously growing.
In the last 4 years, 94% of STM AP students gained university credit by attaining an AP score of 3 or higher.
STM consistently attains well above the provincial average for student success rates. More than a dozen exam offerings attained a 100% student success rate in 2020.
AP Scholar Awards recognize high school students who have demonstrated exemplary college-level achievement on AP Exams.
Last year alone, 14 STM students attained AP scholar awards with 4 STM students recognized as Canadian National AP Scholars. This award celebrates students receiving an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on five or more of these exams.
St. Malachy’s Memorial High School is among the few Canadian high schools who offer the AP Capstone program and we have three trained and experienced teachers.
We were the first school in Atlantic Canada to offer the full advanced placement Capstone Diploma and the only one thus far to graduate students in this program.
In 2020, 90% of AP Seminar students in New Brunswick chose STM to begin their Capstone Program and we had a 100% success rate which is 19% above the global AP score.
This year alone, STM’s enrollment of students seeking to attain the AP Seminar and Research Certificate has doubled and students will sit for exams in May to determine AP Capstone Diploma recipients.
