Good afternoon! Today is Thursday, November 19th
and this is Ms. McGrath contacting you with some info and reminders for all
Raiders and their families.
Don’t forget that information, important dates and teacher
e-mails can be found on our school website at rvms.nbed.nb.ca. We also
regularly “tweet” info @RVMiddle.
1.
Please remind your child to stay off the train
tracks at all times. RVMS will be following up with some “railway safety”
presentations in the coming weeks but it is important that families also
reiterate this message.
2.
Parent/Teacher meetings can be made beginning on
Monday, November 23rd.
Please look for an e-mail tomorrow with details for booking a meeting (bookings
are online this year).
3.
All families should make sure that their child
can logon to TEAMS from home. Please do this with your child. It is better to
check this now in the event that we need to use the “learning from home” model
at some point this year. Teachers are also posting work on this site and it is
a good place to check if you missed a day of school.
4.
We continue to have issues with phone use during
class time. Please review the phone expectations (attached) with your child;
particularly stress that they cannot use the camera at school. If we do not see
an improvement, we will be reverting the “no phones at school” policy. We think
it is important to teach children how to use their phones appropriately but phone
use at school is a privilege that should not become a burden for the office or
a source of conflict and bullying between students.

5.
It is winter in Canada and we will be outside.
Please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for winter
weather.
6.
We are having a Book Fair! Please see the link
at the top of our school website page (brochures were also sent home with your
child) for our Virtual Scholastic Book Fair. All proceeds will go directly to
classroom to purchase items for classroom libraries. The Book Fair runs from
Tuesday, November 24th to Friday, December 4th.
Lastly, we would like to send out congratulations to Mme.
Carr’s Gr. 6 class who are District winners of the “Middle Schools Move” challenge.
The class received an activity box from ASD-S to support their outdoor
adventures.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do
not hesitate to contact me at Trudy.McGrath@nbed.nb.ca
or, on my direct line at 738-6511.
