USE OF ELECTRONICS.docx
Good afternoon! This is a message for all
Raiders and their families.
1. We continue to take every
opportunity to teach our students the appropriate use of cellphones. Please
review the cellphone policy (attached) with your child and encourage them to
use their phones responsibly.
You
can also support us by not texting or calling your child during the school day, or having a plan in place where
they will only reply to your messages at appropriate times (lunch, after school etc.).
2.
Our first dance of the year is
scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, October 24 from 6-8 pm.

-Students must have indoor shoes in a bag, or
in their hands, when they arrive at the door.
-Cost
is $5. A limited canteen with popcorn and water for $1 will be available.
-No water bottles, drinks or liquids can
be brought to the dance.
-All school expectations apply.
3. The
Student Leaders at RVMS have been running a mobile library during Raider Time,
bringing a cart of novels to homerooms for students to check out. This has
proven to be a great success in promoting literacy and having students browse
for good fit books. To coincide with the mobile library, the Student Leaders
will also be running a scholastic book club. A various times throughout the
year, brochures will be available to students. We have approximately 100
packets, therefore not enough brochures for the entire school. They can be
viewed online as well at www.scholastic.ca/canadaclubs
For
students wishing to purchase from the book orders, they have the option of
returning cheque or cash, or
purchasing online. The guide to creating a parent account can be found on the scholastic website under 'Parent',
you simply need to search for the school and teacher (Ms. Natalie McCluskey) and add in your
personal details. Then you have the ability to shop and purchase online. Due dates for orders will be placed on the
school morning announcements.
All
rewards through this program will be sent directly to the mobile library for
purchase of a variety of novels
for our students. Any questions can be directed to Ms. McCluskey, the student leader advisor. Thank you for your
support in promoting literacy at RVMS.
4.
The Babysitting course is completely
full and begins this week. We will run another session after Christmas to accommodate
those on the wait list.
Reminders:
-Pay your student fee online. If you
have already paid, THANK YOU!
-Send a fork or spoon with your child’s
lunch…finger eating of soup is not fun!
