Early Learning and Child Care
Choosing care for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. Every child has a right to quality child care and the quality of care your child receives can directly impact how your child will grow and develop. There are two types of care available to you: licensed and unlicensed.
Licensed early learning and child care facilities can be in the form of an early learning and child care centre or an early learning and child care home. All licensed child care must comply with regulations, is inspected yearly, and is monitored by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Approved centres meet specific requirements and standards of care such as the number of children, amount of space, nutrition, health, safety, and criminal record clearance for all employees. All annual inspection reports are published and can be viewed  on the Approved Child Care Facilities page. In addition, all licensed facilities must implement the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care which guides educators in best practices for teaching young children, appropriate environments, and enriching programming.
