Changes to School Calendar

You should have a received an email from the school district yesterday regarding changes to the school calendar.  A Professional Learning Day has been moved from March to October 30 for high schools.  This means there will be no school for students on October 30 as our staff continues our learning around online/hybrid instruction and learning. Here is a link to the updated calendar:  ASD-S Revised School Calendar (Family) Oct 14 2020.pdf

PowerSchool Parent Portal

Parents/Guardians can access information regarding students mark and attendance through the PowerSchool Portal:  https://sisasds.nbed.nb.ca/public.  All students should also have access using their school username and password.

If you do not currently have access – you can request it by emailing Mrs. Crandlemere (irene.crandlemere@nbed.nb.ca ).

The system which sends phone calls/emails regarding student absences has not been active in ASD-S for the past several weeks – so checking PowerSchool is a great way to know if there have been absences occurring.

For At Home Learning Days, student attendance is recorded as DL (Distance Learning) if they check in with the classroom teachers as required.  Otherwise, they will be marked UA (Unexcused Absence).

At Home Engagement – PowerSchool

As another way to help communicate with parents (and students), by the end of next week teachers will be adding an entry into PowerSchool titled At Home Engagement.  The purpose is to communicate, beyond just attendance, to what degree students are completing the work assigned for home.  The following document provides details:  At Home Engagement PowerSchool.pdf

Student Survey

Next Monday and Tuesday all students will be completing a survey while they are at school.  The survey will be completed online – so if they have not consistently been bringing a device to school they should on those days.  We are looking for feedback in a variety of areas.  With this year being so different we feel it is important to get their thoughts on how things are going and what we need to be focusing on.

Grad Photos

Photography Flewwelling will be at school November 2 – 5 for Grad Photos.  Students should sign up for a time slot outside Mrs. Lyon’s room – Room 321.
