Dr. Daniel Chorney – It Takes a Village series

Attached is a poster advertising the next in a series of talks coordinating by the Parent School Support Committees of the local high schools.  Dr. Daniel Chorney is the speaker – focusing on social media and its impact on youth anxiety.

It is being held here at Harbour View on April 4th beginning at 6:30 pm.  This coincides with our Parent-Teacher evening, so we encourage as many parents as possible to come early to meet with teachers, and then stay to hear Dr. Chorney.

Parent-Teacher

Parent-Teacher meetings will take place on Thursday, April 4, 4:30 – 7:30, and Friday, April 5, 1:30 – 3:30.

If you have questions about upcoming course selections, administration and Guidance would be happy to talk with you during Parent-Teacher.

We are not at the midway point of Semester 2, so Report Cards will not come home mid-April.  Up to date marks are available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Course Registrations for 2019-2020

Beginning this week, homeroom teachers will begin the course selection process for next year.  This process will be spread out over the next several weeks, with students viewing videos highlighting elective courses, discussing pre-requisites and course pathways, etc..  The table below provides the general timeline for this process.  You can see that each student’s selections are reviewed by their homeroom teacher as well and Guidance and/or Vice-Principals before they are scheduled for next year.

Grad Class Auction
Our annual Grad Class Auction will be held on Friday April 5th, 6:30PM at the west side Legion Branch 69. Tickets are $20 and include a meal from Vito’s (pizza, lasagna and Caesar salad).

Tickets will not be sold at the door - they are being sold in the main office. It will include a live auction, silent auction, dessert auction and 50/50.  We are also looking for parents of graduates in particular to help out by donating items to be auctioned off.  Those can also be dropped off at the main office.  This is one of the main fundraisers to help offset costs for prom and Safe Grad – so all support is very appreciated by our graduates.
