​Musical – Legally Blonde

This year’s musical production is Legally Blonde.  The show will run nightly from Wednesday, October 3 – Saturday, October 6 at 7:30 pm.
We have moved to online ticket sales this year.  You can purchase tickets at www.hvhs.eventbrite.ca .  You can still purchase tickets in the school office – but our hope is that most people will find the online ordering more convenient. 
Undergraduate Awards Ceremony
Each year, Harbour View recognizes students who achieved averages of 80% or higher during the previous school year.  This year’s ceremony will take place next Thursday morning.  Students who met this level of achievement will be bringing home a letter today with the specific times of the assemblies.  In order for us to reserve enough seats for parents/guardians, please RSVP by Tuesday. 
Lists have been posted in the main hall of students who achieved Honours, High Honours, or Distinction last year.  If your child feels their name was missed, they should see Mr. Butler or Mrs. Curwin on Monday.
NOTE:  Parking is limited – but there will be space in the bus parking lot beginning at 9:00.  That is lots of time to get inside for the 9:15 assembly.  Please do not park in the bus parking lot before that time.
Rigour
One of our two areas of focus in our School Improvement Plan is a focus on Rigour.  We introduced this idea to students last school year, and re-introduced it again this week in Study Hall.  The attached PDF was reviewed school-wide by homeroom teachers this week, and hopefully prompted some discussions about the importance of challenging ourselves to engage with work which is difficult for us, as that is where most learning takes place.
The slide featuring The Learning Pit will link you to a video explaining the importance struggle in the learning process.  The final slide has two additional videos which build upon this idea.  We would encourage you to take time to watch the videos and talk with your student(s) about their thoughts on the topic!
