December 02
November 23rd 2020

Orange Zone: Today K-2 teachers will be sending home extra work in their student’s bookbags. We are just trying to be a bit Pro Active as we remember the confusion from last year’s School Closure. We have not been told to close schools for the moment, but we do need to be ready. Just leave the work in the bookbags until it is needed. Grade 3-5 Teachers are primed and ready to work online with their students at any time and have been working with students and the use of office 365 for some time now. Pray we don’t have to close schools but if we do the educating of students will continue.
This Friday November 27th is National Jersey Day. Students are asked to wear their favorite sport Jersey to school.
LES will be holding its annual Scholastic Book Fair will end on Dec 2nd. Great Christmas gifts for the kids. This year it will be different of course. To ensure the safety of our LES community we will be hosting a Virtual Book Fair. Scholastic flyers will be sent home with your child(ren) in the weeks to follow along with more detailed information on how to access and navigate the website. Check the Lakefield Happenings page for more up to date information.
-The site will offer mainly books (not many Knick knacks)
-The site will accept Visa, MC and Visa debit
-Flyers will be sent home with the children with some of the more popular titles
-Ships directly to home (up to 2 weeks for delivery)
-Free shipping on orders over $35.00. Otherwise shipping is $6.00
-20% of our school’s total order will be given back to the school in Scholastic product
Our first Parent-Teacher interviews of the year will be held on Thursday, December 3rd (4:00 – 7:00 pm) and Friday, December 4th (9:00 – 11:00 am).  This year interview will be done either on the phone or online through office 365. Parents must book their interview time by using this link and please put your child’s name in not yours.
This system is like booking a reservation at a restaurant. Once a time is booked it no longer will appear in the teacher’s calendar. If you wish to have a phone interview, you still must book online. In filling out the information please ensure you put in a phone number and in the “Special Request” section, on the right of the page, type in “phone interview”. Interviews will be scheduled for ten (10) minute time slots.  If you feel you will need a longer interview, or if you are unable to make it on the 3rd or the 4th, other arrangements should be made with the teacher in advance. Please book your time to ensure it works with your busy schedule.
Report cards will be sent home this Friday, November 27th.
