Greetings HES Families,

A few updates for you as we head into the weekend!

No Classes for Students May 3rd and May 6thA note for families that there are no classes for students scheduled on Friday, May 3rd or Monday, May 6th as there are provincial meetings and professional development sessions for staff. Classes for students resume on Tuesday, May 7th.

HES Home and School ADL Cheese Fundraiser – The HES Home and School is organizing a Cheese Fundraiser through ADL for upgrades to our playground equipment!  Order forms are due back to school on Wednesday, May 8th 2024. Thank you for your support!

HES Hot Lunch Orders – A note for families that there is a new pizza order available for May 15-June 12. It will be available online for purchase May 3-13, closing at noon.  Cost is $2/slice for 5 weeks = $10 for 1 slice or $20 for 2 slices each week.  https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/

Provincial Assessments – During the month of May, students in grades 4 and 5 will be completing provincial assessments. All grade 4 students will complete assessments in Reading (English) and Science. All grade 5 students will complete assessments in Math, and grade 5 FI students will complete an assessment in French Reading.

HES Grade 5 Visit to Hampton Middle School (HMS)Our grade 5 students will be visiting Hampton Middle School ( HMS) on Wednesday, May 29th to meet the staff and students and to have a tour of the school. In preparation for this visit, our grade 5 students wrote letters to the grade 7 students at HMS with their questions about middle school. The grade 7 students will respond to the grade 5’s and then the pen pals will meet up on the day of the visit.

Hampton Middle School Night for Grade 5 Students -  HMS will host a grade 5 information night on May 22nd from 6:30-8pm that will be an open house format. There will be tours provided as well as information for parents to answer any questions they may have before the September start.

Seasonal change – Spring has sprung! This welcomed change of season also comes with increased exposure to the great outdoors and some of its creepy-crawly residents. A gentle reminder to please check your child for tics, rashes, and lice.
