Greetings HES Families,

Today we wish all mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers, a very happy Mother’s Day. We appreciate all that you do each and every day! A few updates for families as we head into the weekend!

Provincial Assessments – Provincial Assessments begin this week. Students in grades 4 and 5 will be completing provincial assessments. All grade 4 students will complete assessments in Reading (English) and Science. All grade 5 students will complete assessments in Math, and grade 5 FI students will complete an assessment in French Reading.

Victoria Day Holiday – A note for families that there is no school on Monday, May 20th, as it is the Victoria Day holiday.

HES Grade 5 Visit to Hampton Middle School (HMS)Our grade 5 students will be visiting Hampton Middle School ( HMS) on Wednesday, May 29th to meet the staff and students and to have a tour of the school. In preparation for this visit, our grade 5 students wrote letters to the grade 7 students at HMS with their questions about middle school. The grade 7 students will respond to the grade 5’s and then the pen pals will meet up on the day of the visit.

Hampton Middle School Night for Grade 5 Students - HMS will host a grade 5 information night on May 22nd from 6:30-8pm that will be an open house format. There will be tours provided as well as information for parents to answer any questions they may have before the September start.

Seasonal change Spring has sprung! This welcomed change of season also comes with increased exposure to the great outdoors and some of its creepy-crawly residents. A gentle reminder to please check your child for tics, rashes, and lice.

Summer Chess camp at UNBSJ – A note for families that from July 15th-19th 9:00 am-1:00pm, UNBSJ is organizing a chess camp. The cost is $160.00. More information can be found at this link:  Saint-John Summer Chess Camp 2024.pdf

Greetings HES Families,

A few updates for you as we head into the weekend!

No Classes for Students May 3rd and May 6thA note for families that there are no classes for students scheduled on Friday, May 3rd or Monday, May 6th as there are provincial meetings and professional development sessions for staff. Classes for students resume on Tuesday, May 7th.

HES Home and School ADL Cheese Fundraiser – The HES Home and School is organizing a Cheese Fundraiser through ADL for upgrades to our playground equipment!  Order forms are due back to school on Wednesday, May 8th 2024. Thank you for your support!

HES Hot Lunch Orders – A note for families that there is a new pizza order available for May 15-June 12. It will be available online for purchase May 3-13, closing at noon.  Cost is $2/slice for 5 weeks = $10 for 1 slice or $20 for 2 slices each week.  https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/

Greetings HES Families,

A few updates for you as we start the week!

HES Staffing Update – A note for families that Ms. Brett Hogan will be taking over for Mrs. Harlow, as she is on leave for the remainder of the year. Ms. Gillan Smith will continue in her role teaching the grade 4 class on Wednesdays.

Greetings HES Families,

It was a great opportunity to meet with families to discuss your child’s progress last week at our Family/Teacher Conferences. Thank you for your continued support!

A few updates for you as we start the week!

HES Jump Rope for Heart HES is excited to participate in Jump Rope for Heart again this year. Fundraising for Jump Rope for Heart will take place between April 16th and April 26th. We have invited our future students at DATL to join us in the jumping events taking place the week of April 22nd to April 26th during our jump week. Each HES class will be paired with a class from DATL, with the HES students leading the DATL students through 8 different skipping/ jumping stations. Thank you to both Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Brenton for your work on this joint schools initiative!

Greetings HES Families,

A few updates for you below as we begin the week.

Family Teacher Conferences –  Family Teacher Conferences are Monday, April 15th from 8:30am -11:30am and  4pm – 7pm. Appointments can be booked by using the link 

Please use the drop-down arrow to select the teacher that you would like to meet with. Families requiring a phone or virtual meeting are asked to contact their child’s teacher to book these.

Scholastic Book Fair April 15th- 19th - Let’s all be bolder, prouder, stronger readers!  

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”  Students had a sneak peek at the fair last week so they could bring their wish lists home. Families can come to visit the fair on Monday the 15th in the morning from 8:30-11:30am, as well as during the evening between 4-7pm. While visiting the Scholastic Book Fair, be sure to fill out a ballot for the family draw door prize, which is a $25 certificate to shop at the fair. Students will be able to visit the fair during the week on their regular library times on Tues the 16th and Thurs the 18th. If students happen to forget to bring their money on the Tues there will be time available for them to visit the fair on Thursday. Thank you for your support!

Greetings HES Families,

A few updates for you below as we begin the week.

Hot Lunch – A new round of pizza orders are online for purchase.  Paper copies are available in the office.  All orders are due Monday, April 8th.  It will be for 5 weeks for $10 for 1 slice and $20 for 2 slices, April 10, 17, 24, May 1, and May 8.

Purchases may be made online through School Cash Online using the link on our website: http://hampton-elementary.nbed.nb.ca

Order forms for purchases by cash or cheque are available in the school office.

April 8th Early Dismissal for Students – A note for families that students in grades 3-8 will be dismissed from school at 12pm, on Monday, April 8th, due to the solar eclipse. We received an updated notification from Transportation that buses will depart HES between 12pm-12:30pm. Please contact your child’s teacher if you will be picking your child up directly from school.  

Term 2 Report Cards and Family Teacher Conferences – Term 2 Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, April 11th.  Family Teacher Conferences are Monday, April 15th from 8:30am -11:30am and  4pm – 7pm. Appointments can be booked by using the link

Greetings HES Families,

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter Weekend with family and friends! A few updates for you below as we begin the week.

HES Home and School Halifax Seed Fundraiser – The HES Home and School is organizing a Seed Fundraiser through Halifax Seed just in time for Spring! HES Staffing Update – A note for families that Ms. LeBlanc will be filling in as a Guidance teacher, working with classes to support social emotional learning and working with small groups while Mrs. Branch is out for the next few weeks. Supply teacher Ms. Edwards will be teaching Ms. LeBlanc’s Music classes.

Easter Holiday Dates – A reminder for Families that there is no school on Good Friday, March 29th, or Easter Monday, April 1st. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Due to the storm day, both African Drumming and Winter Carnival Event Day have moved to the week after March Break.

March Break – There are no classes scheduled for students next week, March 4th – 8th, as it is March Break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 11th.

African Drumming @ HES - The African Drumming Group was storm stayed in Sackville and will visit HES on Thursday, March 14th. We are looking forward to their performance!

HES Winter Carnival Event Day, Thursday March 14thOur annual Winter Carnival Event Day has moved to Friday, March 15th! Students will enjoy a day of Winter themed literacy, numeracy, and physical fitness activities.

HES Clothing Back Orders – A note for families that all of the clothing items that were back ordered arrived today and were sent home with students.
