Message from Mrs. Henry: HES is becoming a Heart Healthy School this year. “Heart Healthy Schools is an initiative of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick aimed at improving the school environment to support and promote healthy lifestyle choices, for children and youth (Heart & Stroke Foundation).” To become a Heart Healthy School, there are 4 challenges we must complete. Last month students completed the Fruit & Vegetable Challenge. This month, we will be presented with 3 weeklong challenges. I encourage everyone to participate if possible.
·        April 12th – April 16th Less Screen Time & More Green Time Challenge – This challenge is for each class to have 1 extra outdoor lesson this week. This could be a read to self, a science or math lesson, a writing activity, or even some extra physical activity time.
·        April 19th – April 23rd Active Classroom Challenge – This challenge is for each class to schedule in 1 extra movement activity into the week. This could be movement or dance videos, yoga in the classroom, a hike along the trails, or just extra physical activity time in your zone.
·        April 26 - April 30 Water Challenge - For this challenge, we will be promoting drinking more water and no sugary drinks.

Home and School Update: Keep an eye out for an upcoming fundraiser. These funds will be used to support an outdoor classroom in our courtyard including picnic tables, chalkboard and various seating arrangements. More details to come next week!
