Innovative Learning Fund (ILF) has awarded Saint Rose School three grants for the 2010-2011 school year. The focus of these grants is mathematics, technology and homework, and writing and photography. These projects target our kindergarten, grade one, and grade two students.
Our Smart Bracelet Homework Project commenced in 2009 as a pilot and action research project with kindergarten and grade three students. The goal was to determine whether traditional homework or "Smart" homework was more engaging, enjoyable and ultimately impacting on student achievement. We are pleased to announce an additional 36 bracelets have been purchased as part of ILF grant.
Writing and Photography will be implented in grade two to encourage students to select writing ideas through their self-created photographs. This project extends to our Saint Rose School Newspaper Club which allows our writers and editors to try their hand at photography.
Our Mathematics Wii Project uses interactive media to enhance students' facility with math facts while staying fit. Small student groups utilize the Wiis for intervention and enrichment.
