​Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission Landfill Operations Student Worker 1 Job Description Under the oversight of the Site Supervisor, with direction from the Operations Coordinator, the Student Worker 1 will perform various skilled and unskilled operational and/or construction related duties. These duties may be performed on or off site as required by the assigned tasks. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibility to perform tasks as assigned by the Operations Supervisor and with direction of the Operations Coordinator in a safe and productive manner. These tasks may include:  General labour jobs as assigned.  Site cleanup and litter collection.  Landscaping duties – mowing, trimming, etc…  Cross training with recycle department for labour related tasks.  Willingness to learn and except new tasks as assigned in a safe and productive manner.  Working in a cooperative and productive manner with co-workers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES This position functions at an operational level, all assigned duties will be supervised and evaluated for completion, efficiency and safe job practices.  Willingness to learn about construction and/or industrial plant operation practices.  Willingness to learn about construction and/or industrial plant safety practices.  Willingness to carry out assigned duties to the best of their ability.  The ability to interact in a responsible, respectable and safe manner when dealing with co-workers, members of the public and waste haulers. QUALIFICATIONS  A resident of New Brunswick or a First Nation community in New Brunswick;  Eligible to work in Canada;  A student in the current academic year and; attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall.* *Note: grade 12 students are eligible if attending a full-time post-secondary institution in the fall.  Ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and related physical activates.  Willingness to learn about construction hand tools.  Willingness to learn about lawn care equipment.
