Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

Good afternoon everyone! We are looking forward to seeing all students on Tuesday, September 5th for the first day of school! It is going to be another great year with our new and returning FALCONS!

When students arrive at school on Tuesday, they will be placing their bookbags in the gym and moving to the playground to catch up with friends and staff.  We will then convene in the gym and will announce homeroom teachers. Students will have the opportunity to settle into their homeroom, get their lock and locker, colour code their class schedule and learn about daily life at FMS.  We have activities planned for our new 6s to help orient them to the school as well as activities for our 7s and 8s to get back into the FALCONS mindset.  We are looking forward to a great first day of orientation and students will start regular classes on Wednesday.

There will be snacks at nutrition break and  hot lunch available starting Tuesday. The full menu will not be in place until a few weeks into the school year and we will forward that information to parents once it is available from Chartwells.

FMS is a nut free, shellfish free, and scent reduced school. Please plan accordingly and ensure that snacks and food do not contain nuts or shellfish, and that any products worn on the body are reduced or no scent.

Thanks to those who have already paid the student fee. Please remember that the $55 fee includes all school supplies except for a bookbag, and change of clothes for Phys Ed, including indoor sneakers. Students will be given a zip binder and most carry their pencils and pens in that. Those who like to have a pencil case may wish to bring one from home.  Student fees need to be paid this week so that we can issue students their notebooks and other supplies.

FMS will host the Meet and Greet with staff next Wednesday, September 6th at 6:00 pm in our gym.  This will give you an opportunity to meet the staff, hear about our policies and school culture and we will conclude the evening with our PSSC election. We do have a few vacant seats on that committee and hope that interested parents will consider offering to serve in this very important function.

I hope this information answers a few of the questions that may be in your minds as we approach the long weekend. Have a safe and wonderful finish to the summer! We will see students on Tuesday and parents on Wednesday.
