Tuesday's lengthy phone message

Here is a run down of the rest of the week at FMS.

We will have regular class days tomorrow and Thursday. The Boys' Basketball Team has a home game on Wednesday at 6:30. As a part of our bilingualism initiative which encourages improving all students' French, we are having a movie party afterschool on Thursday; students are encouraged to come dressed in jammies for the day to get in the movie viewing mode. We will show the movie and serve popcorn in the gym starting immediately after last dismissal.  Students are to be picked up at 5:00 pm. We will be viewing the movie Elf, which is sure to give us some laughs as well as a good dose of the Christmas spirit.

There is no band this week but there will be open gym for basketball players Thursday at 7:30 am. A poster will be coming home to remind everyone about the Giant Yard Sale in January so that you not only can mark your calendar, but also set aside items you would like to donate to the sale.

Friday, which just happens to be ugly (Christmas) sweater day, we are planning on winter activities in the morning. Students will choose among a few activities; we will know if ball hockey in the parking lot or sliding will be options once this storm plays out and we know if it produces more ice or snow!  We will have curling and skating as options for sure. Skaters are required to wear winter sport helmets on the ice and must carry skates in a canvas bag on the bus. Curlers will need to have indoor shoes. All students must be prepared to walk to the Civic Centre and curling club on Friday morning and need to be dressed for the weather.  If the parking lot allows for ball hockey, hockey sticks will need to be dropped off by parents as they are not permitted on the buses.  If we have sliding, sleds will also need to be dropped off at the school and we will drive them to the hill for the students. Please be sure to pick those up before the end of day Friday so that they are not locked in the school over the break. I'll send another message Thursday to confirm which activities will be options.

Friday afternoon, there will be a Variety Show featuring student talent. . . and a few adults will likely take the stage as well! I'm guessing the start time will be 1:00 or 1:15 pm, but will also add that to Thursday's message once the program is finalized.

Looking forward to finishing off the week on a great note!
