Officer Training Program: Marine Engineering and Marine Navigation

Both options are four year programs leading to a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Nautical Science conferred by the partner instituation, the University of Cape Breton. In addition to a degree, graduates are conferred a diploma from the Candain Coast Guard College and receive commercial certification from Transport Canada as a Ship's Officer. Candidates accepted to either program are hired as emplyees of the Public Service of Canada and receive several benefits such as paid tuition, residence accommodations and meals, textbooks and uniforms, a small monthly stipend, 4 weeks of vacatiom, paid transportation to a home location once per year, and medical and dental benefits. Graduates fo the Canadian Coast Guard Training Program are offered continued emplyment with the Canadian Coast Guard.
