Explore - 5 week French language bursary program

​Applications are now open for the Explore, 5 week intensive language-immersion program for students in grade 11 or higher (post-secondary). Most expenses are covered. Application deadline is February 15, 2017. For more information visit www.myexplore.ca

Gene Researcher for a Week program

​The Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Genetics, Gene Researcher for a Week program (GRFAW) application is open until December 31, 2016; applicants must be 16 years old by January 1, 2017. Teachers' reference letters must be submitted by January 9, 2017.

The opportunity for a hands-on learning experience in the field of genetic research. Students gain insight into the world of genetic diseases by observation and are often provided the opportunity of conducting real, hands-on scientific experiments (i.e. DNA isolation, PCTR, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, cell culture and ELISA assays). Participants may also learn how genes cause human genetic disorders and how top scientists translate these findings into treatments and cures for genetic diseases.

2. The opportunity to work in one of Canada's top genetic research laboratories. These students are placed in labs of influential Canadian scientists for one week over Spring Break. This experience gives young students what many have called "a life changing experience". The GRFAW mentoring program is a great opportunity for young scientists to learn about human genetics research and connect with some Canada's best researchers.

3. The opportunity develop a network of high potential peers. Student gene researchers are bright, talented and highly motivated individuals. By participating in the program, they will have an opportunity to meet people in their host lab and institution. Some labs will host more than one student, providing a further opportunity to network with other students.

STEAM HORIZON AWARDS: REMINDER – Application date is approaching!

The Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation Foundation launched its new award program for Canadian youth pursuing a post-secondary education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).

The application deadline is January 9, 2017. In order to be eligible to apply, applicants must:
·        be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
·        be 16 to 18 years of age as of January 9, 2017
·        have been recognized for accomplishments in a formal capacity (e.g.,  winner or participant of a science fair or owner of a patented invention) or in a less formal capacity (e.g. founding a coding club or creating an interactive art installation)
·        maintain an academic average of 85% or higher
·        be preparing to enroll, or is currently enrolled in, the first year of post-secondary education in a STEAM field at a Canadian university or college

China Summer Camp 2017

“The deadline for students in grades 9 -12 interested in applying for China Summer camp 2017 has been extended as 10 extra spaces have been added.   The deadline has been extended to December 21st.
 
The student needs to include an essay about why they wish to participate in the Summer Camp.  Also, students are to attach two (2) letters of reference to their application.   Students who have journeyed on this adventure in the past can attest to the wonderful opportunity this provides to experience a new culture with fellow NB students.

UNB Future Student Night - Best Western Woodstock

  •  Presentations start at 7 PM with the opportunity to ask questions during and afterwards. Parents and students of all ages are welcome to attend!

Admission on the Spot

Have your application assessed at the event. Make sure to apply online at least 48 hours before the event. Please arrive 30 minutes before the event and bring your official transcript, grade 12 course list, and application fee ($65) if you did not already pay online. 
 
Note: Admission on the Spot is not available for Engineering, Nursing, or Renaissance College. Students who would like to apply to these programs may still submit their application, meet with an admissions officer, and be assessed for their second choice program. Admission on the Spot is for students applying to UNB directly from high school only.
