Leo Hayes High School Rotational Schedule

We know you are wondering what the school year will look like.  Our school is working hard to provide a safe and welcoming educational environment for all students.  Our School Operational Plan will be released soon with details on how Leo Hayes High School will operate in this unprecedented school year.

There is information you should be aware of now:

School starts: 9:15AM (warning bell) 9:20AM (School starts)
School Ends: 3:55PM
Lunch will be 45 minutes each day: 1:00PM-1:45PM
School Drop Off:  8:15AM will be the earliest drop off time available.

Students will come to school on a rotational day cycle. This means that students will come to school one day for in class learning and then participate in home learning on the next day. Rotational days do pose challenges to school scheduling.

The Department of Education (EECD) has previously announced information about students in grades 9-12 attending school on rotational days. For Leo Hayes High School this will mean that on Day 1 only students with last names starting with A-L will attend school. On Day 2, only students with last names M-Z will attend school. A calendar will be published to support families to know the days.  For reference Monday, September 14 will be Rotation Day 1.

The rotation will be based on a students legal last name as registered in PowerSchool. Students with hyphenated last names (Jones-Smith for example) will come to school based on the first hyphenated last name (in the example provided this student will come to school based on the A-L rotation). The chart below indicates this information.

Rotational Day Two

To maintain safety and follow Public Health guidelines and maintain an approved operational plan with occupational health, we will not be able to deviate from this rotation or move students to other rotations.

More information will be posted to our school website soon on school start up and grade 9 orientation days.

Thank you for your support of Leo Hayes High School.
