LHHS EXAM WEEK PROTOCOLS

LHHS Student Procedures and Rules for Assessment Week January 2020

It is the responsibility of students to follow procedures and observe the rules for writing exams or attending conferences. Students are responsible for knowing the correct time,

day and location of their assessments.

Dates and Times of Exams & Buses

          Monday, January 20                  Period 1  8:45am to 10:45am 

  

                                                    Period 2  1:00pm to 3:00pm   Bus at 3:30pm

 

Tuesday, January 21                  Period 3  8:45am to 10:45am Bus at 11:30 am & 3:30pm

 

Wednesday, January 22             Period 4  8:45am to 10:45am Bus at 1 pm & 3:30pm

 

Thursday, January 23                Period 5  8:45am to 10:45am Bus at 11:30 am & 3:30pm

 

Friday, January 24                     Storm day - Exam Day (in case of school closures)   

        

·       8:30 a.m. Students will proceed to their exam room to return textbooks and receive instructions for exams.

·       Students not writing exams proceed to the Study Hall in the auxiliary gym.  

·       8:35 a.m. Announcements will be made daily from the main office.

·       Students may not leave morning exams or Study Hall until 10:15 a.m. or 2:30 pm in the afternoon exam.

·        (A bell will be rung!)

·       There is no provision for students who come on the wrong day to write an exam.

 

**Storm day –If school is cancelled, the cancelled exam(s) will occur the following day and the remainder of the schedule will be moved by one day. Per. 5 exam would occur on Friday January 24th, 2020.

Conferences - If you have a scheduled conference on the day school is cancelled please contact your teacher by e-mail to reschedule your conference.**

 

Student expectations during exam:

Exams are an assessment of student individual performance in a subject. 

All cell phones & electronic devices are to be turned off and not accessible to students.

The consequences for cheating on an exam will be a zero on the exam.

After Your Exam : Students are to go quickly and quietly to the cafeteria pit or home.

 

Buses- please see the schedule on the reverse side of this handout. Buses will be doing only one run and will be leaving promptly at the assigned times.  Be outside promptly to catch your bus.   

 

Lockers : Students are asked to get everything they need from their lockers BEFORE ASSESSMENT WEEK. Students are not permitted to go to their lockers between 10:15 and 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 and 3:00 pm on Monday. This helps to maintain a quiet environment for those writing exams.

Conference students entering the building for their conference are not permitted to go to their lockers from 8:45 am to 11:00 am.and 1:00 and 3 :00 pm.

 

 Announcements will be held until 11:15am  

 

Textbooks & School Property

It is the student’s responsibility to return school property to their teachers including: textbooks, library books, and calculators, etc. before the exam begins. If a student has lost a textbook or library book, they are to pay the replacement cost to the subject teacher or library.

 

Absences during exams

Exams are to be written in all courses as scheduled and English & Social Studies & French, etc. conferences are to be attended as scheduled. Alternate arrangements occur only at the discretion of an administrator. A medical certificate will be required. Please Note: Notification of any absence must occur before the writing of the examination - Please call (457-6898) if leaving a message please include the student’s full name.

Cafeteria Service- Monday only -8am to 8:25 and 10:15 to 12:45pm

 Feed the Lions will have lunches & snacks available all week.

Semester 2: All students will return Wednesday, January 29, 2020 to begin Semester 2 and receive their report card and semester 2 schedule

GUIDANCE:

Please note the following changes to course change request procedures. Do not wait until after exams to put in your requests for courses changes:

 

  1. Guidance will be accepting appointment requests for “necessary course changes” until the end of exam week. Deadline for requests is Friday, January 31st, 2020.

  2. Necessary courses changes defined –you don’t have the prerequisite, you don’t have a post-secondary requirements or changed your post-secondary plan, or you failed a compulsory course.

  3. When Semester two starts, students may only make requests for NECESSARY course changes from Wednesday, January 29th until Friday, January 31st at noon time.(This is the same process as last year January 2019.) Students must submit requests by January 31st, , 2020. All student requests will be processed in the next school week. Please follow the process. 

     

    LHHS STUDY HALL

    All students who are in the building but not completing an exam, will be expected to be in the Study Hall in the auxiliary gym during exam times or in the afternoons when they are waiting for their conference.

 

The Study Hall is to provide a supervised space for students in the building and provide a quiet building for students completing assessments and teachers completing the marking of the assessments. 

Students full cooperation and respectful behavior is expected during LHHS Assessment week 2020.

  • Students will be expected to sign in and sign-out of the Study Hall.

  • Students will be allowed to go to the washroom in the phys. Ed. Area.

  • Students will be expected to bring work.
