​Congratulations Grads of 2019!  Way to go Lions!!  June is fast approaching and that means many graduation events will be taking place.  We would like all Grads and families to know the where, what, when and how of all events so keep on reading. Please be aware that all Grad events are drug and alcohol free and that all school rules apply.  Teachers and Administrators volunteer their time for a great week of celebrations.  Participation in these events is a privilege, and your support and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Fees to be paid

• Grad Fee of $120 is to be paid to Homeroom Teachers by June 1.  This fee pays for the graduation ceremony including gowns and Aitken Centre rental.(This can be paid on-line)

• Prom Tickets cost $35 each until May 1 to May 31.  June 1 to 18 $40.

• Transcripts to be sent to post-secondary institutions may be ordered at Guidance.  Fee of $1.

Important dates and Information

• Exams are June 10-13 (see exam schedule for details)

• June 14  unsuccessful Grads will be contacted by their Guidance Counsellor

• Grads return for marks on Monday, June 17 at 8:30 am

   

• Baccalaureate Service is on Sunday, June 16 at 6:00 pm and is being held at Leo Hayes High School.  This is an interdenominational service celebrating LHHS Graduates.  All Grads, family and friends are invited to attend. Casual dress.  Reception after service.

   

• Prom is on Tuesday, June 18, 7:00 – 11:00 pm at LHHS.

  • 7:00-8:00 Cars Parade from Willie O’Ree dropping Grads off at main doors

  • 8:00 Grand March in front of LHHS

• Graduation Rehearsal is on THURSDAY, June 20 beginning at 9:00 am until approximately11:30 am at the Aitken Centre.  ALL GRADS TAKING PART IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY MUST ATTEND REHEARSAL.  Grads are asked to arrive at 8:45 am (the Zamboni doors) to find their row and seat. Grads will receive their gown at the end of rehearsal.  Gowns are not available for pick-up again until 6:00 pm at the Aitken Center on Graduation night - Friday, June 21.

• Graduation Ceremony is on Friday, June 21 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Aitken Centre on UNB campus. 

Grads with guests that have mobility concerns are asked to contact Mr. Carroll by June 8.  glen.carroll@nbed.nb.ca

• Grads are asked to be at the South Gym by 6:15 pm to get lined up.  Grads are asked not to bring personal items (purses, cell phones, cameras, etc.) with them as there is no safe place to leave them during the ceremony and they should not be carried with them.

• Grads are asked to not leave the floor or exit the building during the ceremony.  Teachers will be available for assistance if needed on the floor.

• Gifts such as balloons and flowers are to be kept and given to Grads after the ceremony.

• Clear directions for the Photo Area will be given during the ceremony.  Please remember that this is for one or two photos not a photo shoot.  A reminder to take photos of Grads in gowns between when they receive the gowns at rehearsal on Thursday and before the Ceremony on Friday. Grads return gowns directly after the ceremony, at which time they receive their $20 deposit. They will exit the Aitken center on the lower level facing the soccer field.

• Seating at the Aitken Centre is on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.  Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Invitations/tickets are not required.

• Ceremony usually concludes before or by 9:30 pm.

• Grads and families are invited to LHHS for a reception in the cafeteria as Grads prepare to leave for Safe Grad 2019.

• Safe Grad is on Friday/Saturday June 21/22 after the Graduation Ceremony

  • Grads bring a sweater, swimwear and towel.  Leave money and valuables at home.

  • No food or drink taken on busses.

  • Busses load and leave LHHS after the reception at LHHS.

  • Parents will receive a call at 12 am if their Graduate indicated that he/she was going to Safe Grad and did not show.

  • Students need to be picked up on Saturday morning, front doors of LHHS at 7:00 am. Students should not be driving themselves home.
