EXAM GUIDELINES

LHHS Student Procedures and Rules for Assessment Week January 2019

It is the responsibility of students to follow procedures and observe the rules for writing exams or attending conferences. Students are responsible for knowing the correct time,

day and location of their assessments.

Best Wishes to all students on their assessments.

Dates and Times of Exams –

          Monday, January 21                  Period 1  8:45am to 10:45am    

Monday, January 21                  Period 2  1:00pm to 3:00pm

Tuesday, January 22                 Period 3  8:45am to 10:45am

Wednesday, January 23            Period 4  8:45am to 10:45am

Thursday, January 24                Period 5  8:45am to 10:45am

Friday, January 25                     Buffer Exam Day (in case of school closures)            

·       8:25 a.m. Students will proceed to their exam room to return textbooks and receive instructions for exams.

·       8:35 a.m. Announcements will be made daily from the main office.

·       Students may not leave morning exams until 10:15 a.m. (A bell will be rung!)

·       There is - for students who come on the wrong day to write an exam.

**Storm day –If school is cancelled, the cancelled exam will occur the following day in the a.m. and the remainder of the schedule will be moved by one day. Per. 5 exam would occur on Friday January 25th, 2019. If you have a scheduled conference on the day school is cancelled please contact your teacher by e-mail to reschedule your conference.**

During the exam:

Exams are an assessment of student individual performance in a subject. The expectations of students during an exam include:

            - All cell phones & electronic devices are to be turned off and not accessible to students.

- The consequences for cheating on an exam will be a zero on the exam.

After Your Exam : Students are to go quickly and quietly to the cafeteria lower floor or home.

Buses: Monday and Friday – 3:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday – 11:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Be outside to promptly to catch your bus as there is only one run.   

Lockers : Students are asked to get everything they need from their lockers BEFORE EXAM WEEK. Students are not permitted to go to their lockers between 10:15 and 11:00 a.m. This helps to maintain a quiet environment for those writing exams. Announcements will be held until 11:15am - Conference students entering the building for their conference are not permitted to go to their lockers from 8:45 am to 11:00 am.   

Textbooks & School Property

It is the student’s responsibility to return school property to their teachers including: textbooks, library books, and calculators, etc. before the exam begins. If a student has lost a textbook or library book they are to pay the replacement cost to the subject teacher or library.

Absences during exams

Exams are to be written in all courses as scheduled and English conferences are to be attended as scheduled. Alternate arrangements occur only at the discretion of an administrator. A medical certificate will be required. Please Note: Notification of any absence must occur before the writing of the examination - Please call (457-6898) if leaving a message please include the student’s full name.

Cafeteria Service:

Monday:          OPEN- regular hrs of operation

Tue-Friday:     ***CLOSED

Semester 2: All students will return Wednesday, January 30 to begin Semester 2 and receive their report card and semester 2 schedule

Necessary Course Changes only for semester 2:

Please note the following course change request procedures. Do not  wait until after exams to put in requests for changes:

  1. We will be accepting appointment requests for necessary course changes until the end of exam week. Deadline for requests is Friday, January 25th, 2019.

  2. Necessary course changes must meet one of the following criteria–you don’t have the prerequisite, you don’t have post-secondary requirements, you changed your post-secondary path, or you failed a compulsory course.

  3. As of January 30th, 2019, only students who have failed a compulsory course or a pre-requisite course will be considered for course changes. (Students have schedules built on their choices and alternates).
