I hope you all had a good week, even though it was a little slippery out there on the roads! A tip from a physiotherapist who was on CBC the other day: Walk like a penguin!
We are going into our third week back since the break. Students are now settling back in to learning. This time, between now and March Break is usually the one where we see the most intense learning and growth. Teachers are working on ensuring students understand what their learning goals are, and are working on them also understanding what a "WOW" performance would look like ( this is called co- construction of critieria).
Spelling Bee - We found out we actually have a later deadline to submit our names for the regionals; therefore , our Spelling Bee is being postponed to January 30th! More time to learn! :)
Wellness Survey - Thank you to all of those families who have responded to this survey. We are looking forward to getting these results so that it informs our next steps.
Parent Perception Survey - Since you are already into the surveys, our PSSC has worked hard on a survey for our parents to inform next steps in a variety of areas. This will be a 'survey monkey' to go out in the next while. Thank you for your upcoming support in completing it. We delayed this so as not to confuse it with the Provincial Wellness survey.
Volunteers Needed! As part of ensuring students' academic needs are being met, we do require volunteers who can work in small groups or 1-1 with students who just need that little extra in reading, word work and Math at their level - this also applies to students who need enrichment who may be working beyond expectations at this time. If you have some time to spare and would like to be part of this support , we would love to have you (or your family members or friends!!) Please let us know if you can help.
Fluoride Mouthrinse Program - We would like to begin this program as soon as possible. We are looking for a couple of volunteers who could help with mixing and dispensing it to students who will take part. Please let us know if you can help and we will set up a rotating schedule This would happen once a week, first thing in the morning. More details to come on this as well as a permission form closer to the time it is ready to go. Please know that this is not an obligatory program but is one recommended by dentists and was highly discussed at our PSSC meetings.

Friday Feb. 24 - NO SCHOOL - Professional Learning Day
