Summer Memo from the Principal #1

Hello Parents,

I hope you are enjoying the summer.  I know that our staff is relaxing and getting rejuvenated for the new school year but I have also heard from them that they are eager to get back into their classrooms early to prepare for their students. How nice that we have dedicated Creeker community!

A few notes for you:

Return to School Plans –  Administrators, in conjunction with the Department and District are  working on safety plans for the return of students for the school year. Please be assured that we will do all that we can to have a safe return to school  and academic year.  It will look different for sure,  and we will no doubt need to adjust as we go as it relates directly to our school. We will update you on the plans when we can.

Classrooms: This year, we will have 20 classes with the new smaller K-2 configurations.  Because of this, we have had to make only two changes to our classroom locations. We had one extra classroom that our Resource Team was using; this will now be a regular classroom. We also had to turn part of our library into a classroom. The remainder of the area ( divided from the classroom with shelving and dividers) will be used as a work space and storage area. I realize that our parent community dedicated much effort  and many funds into renovating that space a couple of years ago and it was deeply appreciated . We hope to be back to normal next year.

Some Items We are Considering…

Staggered Entries for the First Week Back : It has been recommended that schools consider staggered entries for all students to build up their comfort level. I will confirm our exact plan for this but  for your awareness and preparation, we would  divide this up alphabetically for  grades 1-5 ( Ks have a separate staggered entry as per usual). Meaning, half the school would come to school on Tuesday the 8 ( and stay home the 9th) , the other half on Wednesday the 9th, then all students would come on Thursday the 10th. Again, I will confirm the precise division and plan  as soon as possible.

Meet the Teacher/Open House – again, it has been recommended that we offer this before school  starts so that parents feel more at ease as we welcome families back.  Due to covid, again we are looking at holding this either virtually, through TEAMS or in another safe manner. More to come at a later date.

Other

Pianos for “sale” – We have an upright piano as well as an organ that we would like to offer to any family who would like them. We currently have two keyboards that are sufficient for the purposes of our music program ( pre-covid). If you are interested in the upright or the organ,  please write us back and we can make arrangements for you to pick them up. If you would like to make a donation to the school, that would be welcomed.

Thank you for your time, patience and understanding as we work through this. In the meantime, I hope you continue to enjoy what summer brings you and your family.
