Staffing Update: Mrs. Henry’s last day was today as she is beginning her maternity leave next week. Replacing Ms. Henry is Allison Bent. Allison completed her internship at DATL and has a child who attends DATL as well. Ms. Bent replaced Ms. Henry in the gym a few times already so she will be a familiar face to the children and help ease the transition.
Report Cards & Parent Teacher: Report cards will be distributed Monday. Please ensure you take the time to sit with your child, reflect on their learning and set goals for the next term. Parent Teacher meetings will be hosted virtually again this year and if you haven’t already done so, please book at the link below. A reminder, you must choose your TEACHER first and then see what times are available for that teacher.
LICE ALERT: Please remember to regularly check your child’s hair for the presence of lice. It doesn’t matter if your child’s hair is long or very short, clean or dirty, these tiny little bugs love the back of the neck and behind the ears and spread very quickly in elementary schools and daycare/home care environments because children play close to one another. If you find lice, it is important to clean ALL surfaces in your home and clean bedding, stuffies, couches etc. It is a lot of work but it is helpful in ensuring a re-infestation does not occur.
Grade 4 & 5 Student Learning Survey: On Dec. 6-10, our school will be participating in the New Brunswick Student Education and Wellness Survey. This survey is a collaborative initiative of the Departments of Health and Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) and the New Brunswick Health Council (NBHC). Students in grades 4-5 will be asked questions about teaching and learning. The survey will be conducted online. By taking the time to complete this survey, students can contribute to their school’s improvement plans and student learning and wellness activities. Results of this survey will be available from the school administrator next Spring. If you would like more information on this survey, please call the New Brunswick Health Council at 1-877-225-2521 or visit their website at www.nbhc.ca. The survey is anonymous and voluntary. All information will remain confidential. Prior to the date of the survey, parents who do not want their child to participate can call and inform the school by calling Mrs. Robichaud at 832-6021.
Dressing for the weather: Please always encourage students to wear layers and more clothing than they think they need in the mornings! The colder weather is HERE! Students will be outside every day at least 3 times and for up to 30 minutes at a time. As a result, they need to have mittens, hats and warm layers. A spare set of dry clothing should always be available to students and can be stored
Scholastic Book Fair: There was a delay in shipping our Scholastic Book Fair. We will host the book fair in the library for students beginning December 4th.
Skating: We will begin skating this coming week (Nov. 22-26th). Students are required to have a properly fitted CSA helmet, skates, snow pants and protective covering on their hands (mittens or gloves).
Estey Art Program: The Estey art program will continue, Tuesday after school. A reminder, pick up after the program takes place outside under the front awning.
