This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk. Highlights for this week include: Grade 5 Melanson Fundraising Initiative, Popcorn Day and Pay it Forward Day Challenge as well as upcoming school closure days.

Flood Closure: Thinking of all those families and businesses who are impacted by the flooding again this year.

Grade 5 Melanson has initiated a fundraiser for the SPCA in support of Kindness month and Paying it Forward. For only a week, we will be collecting items for the animal shelter in the school lobby.

Jump Rope for Heart Assembly will take place on Wednesday. We will learn the importance of keeping our hearts active. Students will receive an envelope to collect pledges from family. Please return the envelope if your child is not participating in the fundraising opportunity.

Popcorn Day which was scheduled for Friday has been postponed until Thursday, May 2nd. Thank you to our Home and School volunteers who needed to adjust their schedule.

This weekend is National Pay it Forward Day on Sunday, April 28th: Brainstorm with your family! What are some activities you could do to help others? By paying a good deed forward children learn that they can make a positive difference to other people’s lives. The ripple effect is visible, motivating and energizing.  Everyone can make a difference!

No school for students next Friday and Monday (May 3 & 6th) as shared on the ASD Calendar: https://secure1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/Documents/ASD-S%20School%20CalendarREVISEDFinal2018%202019.pdf Provincial Council Day Friday, May 3rd: No school for students as this is a Provincial day for teachers and staff to engage in Professional Learning and Monday, May 6th: No school for students as this is the local Annual General Meeting of teachers for Association business.

Is your child in Grade 4 this year? Did you know all students in Grade 4 complete a Provincial Assessment May 21-31st? Some simple tips parents can do to help their child succeed include ensuring your child gets a decent night’s sleep, eats a nutritious breakfast and gets to school on time!
