​Sports:

The Varsity Girls ​​soccer team defeated RPS on Friday with a score of 3-1 – Way to go! The team will travel to Sussex Middle for a 4:00pm game today – Good Luck!


The JV Boys soccer team will host Hampton Middle today at 4:00pm – all are welcome to attend. 

 

Music:

Singing Club:

This is a reminder to grade 7/8 students who have signed up for band of our meeting today after school.  You need your parent contact form filled out in order to attend.  Thanks to the students who have already brought this in.  Our meeting ends at 4:20 today.


Band:

If you signed up for band and you are in grade seven or eight, your first meeting will be tomorrow after school until 4:20pm.  Please bring your completed information form.


Art:

This week, the Grade 8 classes are collecting cardboard for a special project.  If you have any old cardboard boxes at home, the Grade 8’s will put them to good use!  Please bring in cardboard that is… clean, corrugated and cut down (so it is flattened).


All cardboard donations can be delivered to the Wood Shop next to the Art Room before home room each morning.


Other:

The GSA picnic will be today at 11:50. LGBTQ+ students and friends and Allies are welcome to attend. Please exit by the technology lab. Proof of vaccination is mandatory to attend.


Our Locker Full of Prizes contest tickets are still on sale.  Your ticket gives you a chance to have your name drawn to then draw a combination from a jar. IF you draw the right combination and it opens the locker, you win everything inside.  We have drawn 3 tickets today, please come to the office during the break between periods 2 and 3 to draw your combinations. Teachers, please excuse them for the first few minutes of period 3 while they try to open the locker. We will announce right before lunch if the locker was opened or not and if tickets will again be on sale at lunch. 


Burkett’s Battle Drones will be delivering popcorn during first half of lunch this week to students who preordered. Grade 6 on Wednesday, Grade 7 on Thursday and Grade 8 on Friday.


Grade 7 is on the Basketball Court this week, grades 6 and 8 are on the field.


Update on our Shining Horizons fundraiser – This Friday is Jersey Day, students are asked to pay $1 to wear their jersey and all money collected goes towards your class total. Of course donations greater than $1 will happily be accepted and will boost your total! Next Friday’s theme is Barn Day, wear your favourite plaid shirt, overalls, riding gear, western boots, cow hat, etc! Class totals to determine the winner of the BBQ at Shining Horizons will be determined on Friday, Oct 22nd and permission slips will be sent home. All money must be turned in to the office that day. Hay for a Day donations made online will be added to the money collected at school. Winner will be determined by calculating the average amount collected per person in the class. 


Scholastic Orders are due to your homeroom teachers by Friday morning.


Yearbooks are now on sale, via the QMS website ONLY, click the icon “Capture Memories” Josten’s link.  For the month of October (ONLY), if you choose to personalize the cover with your name, you will receive free icons.  Base price is $30 for a 56 page full-color, hard cover book, highlighting the events of the school year


Any students who have proof of their vaccination (COVID) can show the document to their homeroom teacher.  Teachers are asked to send their class list to the office, by the end of the day.


Return your photo retake packages are being picked up today.  If you miss the pick up, they will have to be delivered to Flewwelling’s directly.
