The Gay Straight Alliance within KVHS are aiming to create a safe place for people  to go to talk and feel welcome.Â
We meet on Thursdays at noon hour. New members are always welcome.Â
They recently helped to organize PRIDE Week at the school. Activities for this week included Push Out Homophobia and Transphobia on International Day Against Homophobia (students covered up these words with their hand prints to show support), we painted a rainbow crosswalk in the student parking lot, students sold rainbow PRIDE bracelets, there was a Wear Your Colours Day in which students dressed in their bright rainbow colours to show support and donations were collected to give to the KV Oasis Youth Center, and students wrote positive words of encouragement to post on the bulletin board outside of the learning center. ​
