Here are your weekly updates!

Family-Teacher Meetings – Family-Teacher meetings are Thursday, Dec. 7, 4:00-7:00pm and Friday, Dec. 8, 8:30-11:30am. We are offering these in-person or virtual. You can book your appointment online by clicking the link below.

Parent/Teacher Bookings

Book Fair – Scholastic Winter Book Fair December 4th –8th

Books can take you anywhere and everywhere, what will be your next adventure? Students can visit the book fair during the week of December 4th – 8th, at their regular library times on Tues the 5th and Thurs the 7th. If students happen to forget to bring their money on the Tues there will be time available for them to visit the fair on Thursday.

Families can also visit the fair during parent teacher on Thursday evening from 4pm-7pm and on Friday the 8th from 8:30am-11:30am. Follow the arrows in the hallways leading you to the school library.

HES Winter Concert – Monday, December 18 (storm date Thursday, December 21)

* 9:00am for our Gr. 3-5 English classes (3Kennedy, 3Salgado, 4Harlow, 4Shannon, 5Bond, 5Smith)

* 10:45am for our Gr. 3-5 French Immersion classes (3Aubin-Martin, 3Schofield, 3Bentley, 4Bradshaw, 4Vallis, 5Kelemen, 5Melanson)

* PLEASE NOTE: Doors will open one half hour prior to each performance

Once again this year, we will be selling tickets for The Best Seats in the House which includes Reserved Parking, VIP Seating for 4 and Treats with one winner for each concert performance. Look for tickets to come home soon. All funds raised will be donated to the Hampton Food Basket.

HES School Merchandise HES E-Boutique​

Be sure to check out the new school e-boutique for school merchandise available for purchase until December 1st.

Items will be delivered to school by December 20th, just in time for gift-giving.

Hampton Food Basket Collection Hampton Elementary students are collecting food bank items for the Hampton Food Basket from November 27th-Decemeber 8th. Students are welcome to bring non-perishable food items to school to donate. The Hampton Food Basket is looking for canned foods such as meat, vegetables, and soups. The Grade 5 classes will walk to the Hampton Food Basket on Monday, December 11th to deliver the donations.

Here are your updates for the week!

 

NB Student Wellness and Education Survey - In mid-November, our school will participate in the annual provincial Student Wellness and Education Survey. This survey is for students in grades 4 and 5, and is completed online at school.

 

Home and School After School Movie Nov.23rd – The HES Home and School Association presents Dr. Seuss’, “The Grinch,” as the first afterschool movie of the year on Thursday, Nov.23rd. Permission forms were sent home last week and tickets are $5.00. Forms and ticket purchases are due on Monday, Nov.20th.

 

Friday, Nov.24th No classes for students – A note for families that this Friday, Nov.24th there are no classes for students as it is a professional learning day for staff.

 

Home and School Jave Moose Coffee Fundraiser – A reminder that the Home and School Java Moose Coffee fundraiser forms are due back on Thursday, Nov.23rd. Thank you for your support!

Principal's Email to Families Nov.5/2023

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

We’ve all gained an extra hour this week with the time change! Here are your updates as we begin the week:

HES Student Picture Orders – A reminder to families that picture retake orders are due back at the school by Nov.14th.

NB Student Wellness and Education Survey - In mid-November, our school will participate in the annual provincial Student Wellness and Education Survey. This survey is for students in grades 4 and 5, and is completed online at school.

There is a home portion to the NB Wellness Survey, where parents and guardians are invited to share thoughts on your child's physical health, social-emotional development, and family habits. A PIN code and link will be sent home with each student this week.

HES Hot Lunch – A note for families that pizza orders will be open online from Nov.3-Nov.14 for 5 pizza dates Nov.15-Dec.13. Orders are due by 9am on Nov. 14.  Paper order forms can be picked up in the office if needed.

Winter is Coming – Last week’s snowfall reminds us that the seasons are changing! Now is a great time to switch over to warmer outside gear. Students should start to bring heavier coats, hats, mittens, and boots to school for our outdoor recesses.

HES Home and School Meeting – The November HES Home and School Meeting takes place this

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

Here are your updates as we begin the week:

HES Student Picture Orders – A reminder to families that retakes are scheduled for Nov.1st.   

Oct. 31st Black and Orange Day at HES – A note for families that students are invited to wear orange and black items on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct.31st. There is a prize for the class with the most Black and Orange items! If families would like to send a treat for their child, all are reminded that these must be peanut-free and individually wrapped. Homemade items are best enjoyed at home.

Professional Learning Day Friday Nov.3rdFriday Nov.3rd there are no classes for students as it is a professional learning day for all staff.

NB Student Wellness and Education Survey - In mid-November, our school will participate in the annual provincial Student Wellness and Education Survey. This survey is a collaborative initiative of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Department of Health, and the New Brunswick Health Council (NBHC). By completing this survey, students are helping teachers, schools, districts, communities, and provincial decision-makers better understand the needs and strengths of students in their school and their community. This survey is for students in grades 4 and 5, and completed online at school. The survey is anonymous and voluntary, and the school results of this survey will be available next Spring. Families who prefer that their child abstain from participating in the survey can call the school at (506) 832-6021. For more information regarding the wellness survey families are encouraged to check out the website at http://www.nbhc.ca/sws .

 

Holistic Curriculum Framework– This year Hampton Elementary School is one of ninety schools involved in using the updated curriculum framework that will be used in all K to 8 schools during the 2024-25 school year. Included in this week’s message is a memo for families on the holistic curriculum framework including links to the new digital platform. Please see the attached memo from EECD for more information.

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

Here are your updates as we begin the week:

HES Student Drop off and Pick Up Safety Reminder A safety reminder for families that pets are best kept at home during student drop off and pick up. Last week one of our students sustained a major injury when a dog jumped up and caused him to fall on the curb of the sidewalk. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe pick up and drop off for all, by keeping pets at home.

HES Evacuation Practice– We will be practicing our whole school evacuation this Wednesday, Oct.25th @ 11am. Our primary evacuation site is the Hampton Middle School theatre and gym.

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

We hope all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends this past weekend!

HES Student Picture Orders  – School picture orders are due tomorrow, October 10th. Retakes are scheduled for Nov.1st.

Provincial Professional Learning Day, Friday, Oc.13th – A reminder for families that there are no classes scheduled for students this Friday, Oct. 13th, as is it a Provincial Professional Learning Day for staff.

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

We had a respectful Truth and Reconciliation Assembly last Friday here at HES. We are so very proud of our Grade 5 Student Leader Team and how hard they worked with Mrs. Branch to prepare and host this assembly for our school! Our students did an excellent job and they S.O.A.R.ed throughout the whole assembly!

HES Student Picture Orders – A note for families that school picture orders are due October 10th. Retakes are scheduled for Nov.1st.

HES Hot Lunch Program – Our hot lunch program begins on Wednesday, Oct.4. Families can order pizza for their children each Wednesday. The first order will be for October 4 – November 8. Orders will be accepted online or in person until Tuesday, October 3rd at 9am. No late orders will be accepted. Online orders are preferred through our Cashless Schools program https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/ . If you do order online, it is not necessary to send in the paper order.

Transportation Notes – A note for families whose children take buses 710, 711, 725, and 755 that there are several busing changes this week due to the Hampton Green Bridge Closure. The changes are in effect for Oct.2nd – Oct.6th. The talkmail message below was sent to affected families through School Messenger regarding the updated route, pick up and dismissal times for the affected buses 710, 711, 725 and 755.

Mornings:

- Bus 710 will start at 7:13 am(25 mins earlier than normal) and do its run in reverse. First pick up Main St & Ravine Rd 7:13 am. AM2 relay will not be affected

- Bus 711 will start at 6:58 am(20 mins earlier than normal) and do its run in reverse. First pick up Main St & Ravine Rd 6:58 am. AM2 relay will not be affected

- Bus 725 will have an earlier start time of 6:50 (22 mins earlier than normal) and do its

run in its usual order. First pick up 334 Route 845 6:50 am.

- Bus 755 – Kingston buses for DATL HES HMS – Busses should leave MCS around

8am due to transfers and bring the students to Hampton. Busses from Kingston will

be late due to traffic on the ferry and on the Gondola Point Arterial, possible 30

minute delay

Afternoons: (710, 711, 725)

- DATL: 2:00 pick up for students who take the affected busses. This may mean some

playground supervision while waiting for the later bus time.

- HES: 2:15 pick up for students who take the affected busses.

- HMS: 2:20 pick up for students who take the affected busses.

- The three busses will leave HMS by 2:30 and will have students from all three

schools on them. 

- Students that live on the school side of the bridge in Dutch Point

​area will arrive home earlier than usual.

Students who take other busses, walk or are picked up will be dismissed at their regular times.

HES Home and School Meeting – The first HES Home and School takes place on Thursday Oct. 12 @

6:30pm in the library.

PowerSchool Parent Portal – A reminder for families that Powerschool Parent Portal letters with your

Principal's Message to HES Families September 25, 2023

Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families, 

We had a fantastic Terry Fox walk last Thursday here at HES. We are so very proud of our students and how they S.O.A.R.ed on the walk! We thank our students and families for your support with our Toonies for Terry fundraiser! We raised six hundred and fifteen dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation! 

 Emergency Procedures Practice – A note for families that we will be practicing our lockdown procedures with our RCMP partners this Wednesday, Sept.27th . 

Picture Day – Picture Day takes place on Thursday, Sept. 28 th 2023 for HES students. 

HES Breakfast Program – Our breakfast program is starting this week, Monday, Sept.25th . Forms were sent home with students last Wednesday. Thank you to all our volunteers for making this possible! 

HES Hot Lunch Program – Our hot lunch program begins on Wednesday, Oct.4. Families can order pizza for their children each Wednesday. The first order will be for October 4 – November 8. Orders will be accepted online or in person until Monday October 2nd at 10am sharp. No late orders will be accepted. You may send in a paper order form, which will be sent home on Monday with cash or cheque, however online orders are preferred through our Cashless Schools program https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/ . Greetings Hampton Elementary School Families,

We hope everyone stayed safe this weekend.

Student Leadership Forms – HES is a school that believes in student leadership and engagement! This week, the Hawk Leadership Team forms are available for students who want to get involved and be leaders in our school. Completed forms can be returned to the Office by Thursday, Sept.21st .

No Classes for Students Friday, Sept.22nd – There are no classes scheduled for students on Friday, Sept.22nd as it is a provincially designated professional learning day for all staff.

Agenda Scavenger Hunt – A reminder that the Agenda Scavenger Hunt is due on Thursday, Sept.28th. Please return for a chance to win a family prize!

Busing Information –Please ensure that your child knows their morning and afternoon bus number. A reminder that Alternate Transportation forms are to be completed annually on the ASD-S website. Also please confirm your child’s stops and times on BusPlanner. By signing up for BusPlanner, you will be notified of busing updates such as delays, cancellations, and route changes. Information on signing up can be found here.

Traffic Notes

• For students who are driven to school by family/friends (students who don’t take the bus): We invite you to drop off and pick up at the rink parking lot, the same as it has been done for the past 3 years to avoid congestion on School Street.

• If dropping off your children at HES in the morning, please proceed just beyond the pilons and please do not turn in to the playground to drop off children. If you must pick up your children after school, please park in the spaces adjacent to the playground.

• Please drop students off after 7:50am.

• Passing a school bus when the red lights are flashing is a serious offense and may result in a substantial fine. Please remember the speed limit on School Street is 20 kilometers

School Supply and Fee Information - Thank you to families who have paid both the school supply fee and student fee. These can be paid online using cashless schools @ https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/ 

School Supplies/Student Fee 2023-2024: Total Cost: $60 per student 

Amount Rationale: 

$40 This part of the fee covers all student consumable supplies. With ten months of the year, this works out to $4 a month per student and covers: pencils, erasers, paper, notebooks, duotangs, markers, crayons, glue, art. Items such as scissors and rulers are recycled from year to year and are replenished on an as needed basis. 

$20 This part of the fee covers student agenda and performances. For example, students will receive a student agenda ($8), school performances, skating sessions at the Hampton Community Centre in the Fall or Winter and one swimming session in the Spring. (Additional fees may be required for individual class events/field trips) 

Families are required to provide the following: 

•boxes of tissue (2-3 per student) 

•1 set of inexpensive ear buds/ ear phones (ear phones preferred) 

•Indoor sneakers Water Bottle 

•1 backpack 

•1 lunch bag

•1 water bottle​

*there may be times towards the end of the year when items such as pencils are requested to be replenished.​

Breakfast and Hot Lunch Programs – Our breakfast and hot lunch programs will start up again at the end of September. Stayed tuned for further updates!

Emergency Procedures Practice – A note for families that we are reviewing and practicing our emergency safety procedures for students, such as fire drills, lockdowns, hold and secures, and evacuations with students throughout the month of September. These are outlined for the month on our September school calendar. We are required to practice these several times throughout the school year.

Picture Day – Picture Day takes place on Thursday, Sept. 28th 2023 for HES students.

Terry Fox Walk – Our whole school Terry Fox walk takes place on Thursday, Sept.21st 2023. Students are invited to bring a toonie with them ahead of our walk. Students will have the opportunity to discuss the heroic efforts of Terry Fox and raise funds for cancer research. All donations will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated. Classroom teachers will be collecting donations up to the day of the event.
