Information Items:
-Please remember that the lane in front of the school is for buses only.  On Wednesday morning, due to road conditions, we had a number of late buses that had to try and maneuver around parents parked in front of the school. There were at least two vehicles that attempted to pass buses with the red lights flashing. For the safety of all children, please remember to use the drop off zones or park in the visitors parking area and walk your children into the school.
-We had a very successful Kindness Week at FES! The children demonstrated their kindness in many different ways.
-In the spirit of giving, we will be collecting new and gently used toys in conjunction with the Rothesay Regional Fire Department Toy Drive starting on Monday,  Dec. 8th. We will also be collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries for the KV Food Basket as well as pet food and supplies for our furry friends at Saint John Animal Rescue League. As in past years, we will select two classes to deliver the food to the Food Basket. Other donations will be picked up at the school. Our We Day We Care group of leaders has been promoting these events on video announcements and throughout the school with beautiful promotional signs that they made.
-  Our annual FES Turkey Dinner will take place on Thursday, Dec. 18th with three sittings. Our Kindergarten and grade 1 students will eat at 11, our grade 2-3 students will eat at 12 and our grade 4-5 students will have lunch at 1pm. The cost of the meal is $7.50 per serving with the school contributing $2.50 per child. We ask that families pay $5 per child to a maximum of $15 per family. A menu selector will be sent home with each child early next week. The items available include mashed potatoes, dressing, turkey, carrots, gravy, rolls, cookies, and apple juice.   Please help your child (children) select the desired food items and return it to your child’s teacher with payment by Monday, Dec. 15th . Thank you, in advance, to all volunteers who have signed up to help with this event and to Saint John Ale House for catering the event. This is another great example of building and celebrating our sense of community at FES.

- Santa’s Workshop will be taking place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week. Children will have the opportunity to shop for the special people in their lives - there are items in our shop for parents, guardians, siblings, grandparents. Price points between $1.00 and $10.00 with the majority of items being between $1 and $5. There will be three or four elves available to assist during each class visits. A flyer with an attached envelope went home this week.  Your child can use the envelope to guide his or her visit to the workshop.  It doesn’t show what the items are, but it shows the different price points.  It will help the Elves find a gift for the special people on your child’s list. Below please find the visitation schedule.
Wednesday- Reevey/Veale, McNeill, 3 Martin, O’Brien, Blanchard, Woods, Culligan, Milburn, Olive, and MacGillivray
Thursday-Bonner, Urquhart, Kilpatrick, Dawes, Patterson, Russell, K Martin, Beaulieu, Adams

-Dec. 19th is the last day before Christmas break and will be a full day for students.
-Again this year, the Home and School group will be selling tickets on a fantastic Christmas basket and VIP concert tickets.  Order forms came home this week.  You purchase tickets that provide the winner with 4 front row VIP seats, 2 front of the school parking spots and some light refreshments at your seats.  There will be winners for the A-M concert, N-Z concert and the Kindergarten concert.  They are also selling tickets on a beautiful Christmas basket. Tickets can be purchased by filling out the form and sending in the money or purchasing tickets at each of the concerts.  Tickets will also be for sale  at school starting next week.
-Please follow our school on Twitter @FairvaleFalcons.
-The Home and School group currently has 282 Likes on their Facebook page.  They want to get to 300 and have a little incentive!  Someone in the next 18 people will win a pewter Dreamland Ornament just by Liking their page.  As soon as they reach 300, they will draw a name from the new Likes.
