CENTENNIAL SCHOOL IS A COMMUNITY SCHOOL

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Community Schools are:

  • Vibrant
  • Stimulating
  • Resourceful
  • Engaging
  • Student-centred
  • Open to everyone
        •

Community Schools create relationships with local businesses, community groups, non-profit agencies, and individuals that transform a traditional school into place of learning for children, youth, families, and the community before, during, and after school.

Learning doesn’t stop when the bell rings at the end of the day-a Community School stays busy with after school programs, family activities, adult education, literacy, and employment training.

CENTENNIAL SCHOOL IS A PALS SCHOOL

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

PALS, Partners Assisting Local Schools, is a partnership between local businesses and neighbourhood schools that provide support to the school in the form of volunteers and/or financial assistance.

Centennial’s PALS partnerships have allowed the school to run such programs as:
Reading Buddies, In School Mentoring, Christmas Hampers, Christmas Bazaar, After School Cooking Club, Breakfast Club, Centennial Lunch Club, Marigolds on Main Street, Clothing Room, Healthy Snacks, and Enrichment activities such as field trips, PALS in the Park, tickets to Sea Dogs games, and to the Imperial Theatre.

Centennial School is very fortunate and proud to have 10 local businesses supporting the school.
