In this opening video of a multi-part series, District 8 K-5 Mathematics Mentor Tracy Craig delivers the first 10 minutes of a professional development presentation on Effective Assessment Practices. This presentation has been tailored for the elementary level and for teachers in our district. The components of balanced assessment are reviewed with focus on formative assessment. Math journals are discussed as an example of formative assessment.
