Group Collage of our Needs and Wants

This week has been another busy week of learning.

Math - In math, we completed our Patterns unit and have moved into our Numbers strand.  The concept of more, fewer and same as has been introduced.

You and Your World- We continue to work through Unit 1 in our You and Your World curriculum and have finished up discussing "What Makes you Special and Unique?" as well as "Needs and Wants".  We are now moving into the "Roles of Family Members and how they have changed over the years" and we will also identify and discuss "Groups in which the students belong."

Literacy - We have been working through our Jolly Phonics sounds and learned "Oo" this week. Next week, we will be tackling Uu and Ll.  We also introduced a new sight word "was" and have been learning about rhyme and rhyme awareness.  As well, we continue to work on print concepts such as spacing, punctuation, stretching out sounds, where we write on the paper and what to do if we run out of space on a line, using capital and lowercase letters etc...

As you can see, we have been extrememly busy learning many new things.

Reminders:

  • Please continue to practice your child's letters and sounds as well as sight words nightly.  As we learn more and more letters and sounds and sight words at a quick pace, it can become quite challenging to keep them all straight.
  • Please read your email regarding Parent Teacher Information forms that are going home on Monday.
  • Scholastic book orders will also be sent home on Monday.  They are due back on Wednesday, Nov. 16th.
