​This week I will be working with the students to assess where they are right now in reading and writing. The children will be doing an independent writing piece that I will send home for parents/guardians to see. Please know that the children are still using invented spelling and that many of their words will not be spelled correctly. The only words that I expect will be correct are the Word Wall words that we have studied this year.

Speaking of Word Wall words, I have introduced the last 4 words for our Word Wall today. They are don't, does, know and together. These are tough to figure out but that's why we practice them. 

We will tackling some contractions this week which is another tough concept for this age. However, it is good for them to understand what these are and to recognize the two words that make up the contraction. Don't worry, they will be working with them many times over the next few years as well.

In math, we are looking at addition and subtraction as a whole class and differentiating in our small groups so that everyone is working at their level.

I am out this Thursday for a meeting but will return on Friday.
