Weekly What's Up: Nov. 27-Dec. 1

Thank you to all who were able to come in for parent teacher conferences.  I’m glad I had the opportunity to share your child’s learning with so many parents/guardians.
I can’t believe we have reached the end of November!  There was already talk about how close Christmas is.  Please remember to dress your child appropriately for the changing weather and temperatures.  If you would like to send in a change of clothes for your child to keep at school please place the clothing in a Ziplock bag labelled with your child’s name.  Playing in the snow can often lead to wet clothing (especially socks), so a change of clothes is always a good idea.
If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please let Mrs. Yerxa know as soon as possible via phone or e-mail.  Also, please make sure we have up to date information (address, phone numbers) on file should anything change.
I will be out on Tuesday, November 28.
Literacy:   Please remember to record the title of the book your child reads each night on their calendar page.  Students received their first individualized Words Their Way sort today.  I will be sending home a letter that explains the program tomorrow.
Math:  This week’s numbers of the day will be 56-60.
Please continue to practice adding 10 partners and doubles with your child until they can quickly recall the answer.  Knowing these mental math facts will help us as we get ready to learn about addition and subtraction using 2 digit numbers.  We will be starting our unit on measurement later this week.
You and Your World:  We are beginning our unit on wants and needs this week (just in time for the Christmas seasonJ).
Dates to Remember
Tuesday, November 28: Hot lunch orders are due
Wednesday, November 29: Library Books due back
Thursday, November 30:
Friday, December 1: LHH Clubs, DOTS for Kids Day (I have a class set of bells, so students will not need to bring their own)
Have a great week!
