Week at a Glance Nov. 18-22

Hello MAS families! It was a short, but exciting week at MAS. The VReds hockey players came to visit with coach Mac. Always an exciting and motivating assembly when they come! Hopefully families will join us tonight at the UNB hockey game to cheer them on.

I would also like to “Thank” our PSSC and the PSSC of Nasis Memorial for hosting the parent event last evening- It’s OK to be Awesome. They offered some great strategies on how to help your child navigate emotions, empower them, etc. It was great!

It looks like the snow is here to stay and with that please be sure your child is coming to school prepared to be outside in the weather. There are still many coming without snow pants, hats, etc.  I also recommend this time of year to pack extra socks and mitts as they tend to get wet.

A few reminders-

Wellness Survey- On Monday, November 18th students will be bringing home a wellness survey from the New Brunswick Health Council. Please take time to complete the survey. The data from the survey about the wellness behaviors of students in our school, will help us to establish an improvement plan and implement strategies for student wellness activities. Our grades 4 and 5 students will also be completing a survey here at school.

Report Cards- Report cards will go home on Monday, November 18th. Parent teacher interview times are included with report cards.  Parent teacher interviews will be on Thursday, November 21st evening, and on Friday, November 22nd morning. We encourage all parents to attend and meet and talk with your child’s teacher to learn about your child’s academic progress.

Breakfast Program-  Tuesday, November 19- Cereal and smoothies

Clothing Exchange- We will be having another clothing exchange. We are looking for winter clothing donations. We will be collecting clothing until Wednesday, November 20th. During parent teacher interview days (Thursday and Friday) the clothing will be out in the gymnasium for families to browse through and take as needed.

Town Hall Transportation Meeting- Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the upcoming meeting at Nashwaaksis Middle School (Theatre & Cafeteria) on Wednesday, November 27th 6:30-8:30pm.

No School- Reminder there is no school Friday, November 22 for students.

Christmas Angel Tree Families- We will once again be doing our Christmas Angel tree to help support our school families. We are reaching out to our families to see if any are in need of some extra support this Christmas. The past year with support from staff, school community, and a few local groups we were able to give a little extra help to 5 families.  If you would like some help this Christmas (groceries, gifts, clothing, etc.) PLEASE get in touch with Roxy roxanne.yerxa@nbed.nb.ca or Mrs Burnett Cynthia.burnett@nbed.nb.ca or call us at school 453-5422 by November 29th. (Please note that names are kept completely confidential.)
