Weekly Memo - October 3-7

Good afternoon, MAS Families.  It is so hard to believe that this is the last week of September!  We have had another fantastic week here at McAdam Avenue School!  Our Cross Country racers had a meet at Henry Park, our Java Moose fundraiser began, we had our first Student Voice meeting (see attached photos), we handed out our first STAR student awards and we learned and reflected on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.  It was a small but mighty sea of orange this morning as we got together for our Orange Shirt Day assembly.

Items to note for this week:

  1. Our Indigo Adopt-A-School fundraiser started on Sunday, Sept. 11 and runs until October 1.  Don’t forget that you can donate online at: https://indigoloveofreadingfoundation.givecloud.co/fundraisers/mcadam-avenue-school-fredericton-new-brunswick
  2. Don’t forget about our Java Moose fundraiser!  Shop local and support our school at the same time!  Our school will receive $4 for each bag of coffee sold!  Important to note about this fundraiser: please ensure all rows and columns are filled in; please send in exact cash as we cannot give change; please ensure the seller’s name is on the sheet as we will be returning these to you to distribute your coffee.
  3. School supply fees ($47.25) can be paid online at https://anglophonewest.schoolcashonline.com/.  If you would like to work out a payment schedule, please let Roxy or I know.  We would be happy to support you with this.
  4. Wednesday, Oct. 5 – Cross Country here at McAdam Avenue for students in grades 3-5 who are participating.  We will be hosting along with Royal Road School.  Please look for further communication about parking. We are still looking for volunteers!  The meets have been huge this year, so we appreciate all the help we can get.  Please reach out to me, Mme. McCabe or Mrs. Belyea if you can help out.
  5. Please send a change of clothes with your child.  We have had several students get their clothes dirty on the playground and we have had to call families to bring in a change of clothes.  As well, please let me know if you have any old clothing donations; we would gladly take them to have in case a child needs them!
  6. Friday, Oct. 7 – A family survey will be sent home for you to fill out.  This survey will be sent out multiple times this year and supports one of our School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals.  Please take a minute to fill out this survey and return it with your child by Wednesday, October 12.
