Week at a Glance Oct. 28- Nov. 1

Hello MAS Families. We had an exciting week at MAS! Our students did a wonderful job with practicing safety procedures at school for safe schools week. We had an assembly on Monday where our grade 5 class shared about ways to be safe at school. They did a great job! We practiced fire drills, lock down procedure, site evacuation, and bus evacuation.

The FIN kids festival at the Cineplex was lots of fun. Students watched short films that were produced around the world. Some films were cartoon, some were clay animation, some had speaking, and some were just music background. It was engaging to see the variety of films.

I want to THANK all our parent volunteers that have helped with our Halloween Howl from organization, decorating, setting up, donating cupcakes. Your time is greatly appreciated and these events could not happen with out you.  THANK YOU!

A few reminders:

Parent Workshop Evening- On Thursday, November 14th we will be partnering with Nasis Memorial school and be hosting a parent night with the guest speakers of “It’s OK to be Awesome”. These ladies offer workshops for parents around Mental wellness strategies to use with your child, Mindset coaching for parents, Real-life application exercises, and Hand-outs to take home. Thank you to our PSSC for offering this to our parent community. We will be sending home a MonkeySurvey to families ahead of time to get an idea of how many intend on coming, childcare needs (will be by donation), and for ideas on topics parents are interested in learning more about.  For more information you can visit their website at http://itsoktobeawesome.ca/

Breakfast Program- Breakfast program is on Tuesday, October 29th. This week students will be having  bagels and fruit. All students are welcome. When they arrive on the playground they come right inside the grade 2-5 door and come downstairs to the gymnasium to enjoy breakfast with friends. If arriving close to bell students will take the breakfast back to classroom.

Please note-  We are still looking for volunteers to help with the breakfast program for the month of November. If able to help out, please contact Helga.

Santa’s Little Helper- Thank you to all families that contributed to our fundraiser.  Monies raised from this will go towards our Christmas dinner at Moco and our Christmas shopping spree.

Support-A-Thon- Our Support-A-Thon on our schoolcashonline will be available all year long. We will be resubmitting, so that parents can go on and donate as often as they like. Thank you to those that have already contributed. If this is something you would like to consider, please visit schoolcashonline.

Career Week- November 4th-8th is Atlantic Canada Career Week. We are looking for any parents (relatives) that would be willing to come in and share what you do with classes. Please contact the office or your child’s teacher if you would like to volunteer some time and enrich the learning of our students here at MAS.
