It was a short week, but a great week at MAS! We
finished the week with our Leo Hayes Clubs and enjoyed their visit and
activities.
This coming week is ‘Safe Schools Week’. This is our
opportunity to teach your child what to do in emergency situations, so that in
the event of an emergency we are all prepared. Your child will participate in
emergency practices throughout the week, such as fire drills, lock down, site
evacuation, and bus evacuation. Please throughout the week talk to your child
about school safety and the importance.
A few reminders:
Breakfast Program- Breakfast program is on Tuesday,
October 22nd. This week students will be having scrambled eggs and toast.
All students are welcome. When they arrive on the playground they come right
inside the grade 2-5 door and come downstairs to the gymnasium to enjoy
breakfast with friends. If arriving close to bell students will take the
breakfast back to classroom.
Please note- We are looking for a volunteer to
oversee the breakfast program for the month of November. If able to help out,
please contact Helga, HELGARENNKE@GMAIL.COM
Santa’s Little Helper- Reminder the order forms and
money are due, no later than October 23.
York Care Trick or Treat- Our community friends at
York Care have invited the MAS students to a Trick or Treat event on Wednesday,
October 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm. Students are invited to dress up
and enter through the main entrance to trick or treat. I am sure the residence
there would love to see the children.
FIN Kids- On October 24th our students
will be attending FIN Kids at the Cineplex. This is a wonderful enrichment
opportunity to see short films created by youth.
Halloween Howl- We are excited for our upcoming
Halloween Howl on Friday, October 25th 5:30-7:30pm. Students brought
home an information sheet today with pizza orders on the bottom. We are also
looking for volunteers to donate cupcakes/small cakes for our cake walk. Please
contact the school if you are willing to donate. This is a great night to
mingle, meet new friends, and have fun. We look forward to seeing everyone
there. Don’t forget your costume!
Support-A-Thon- Our Support-A-Thon on our
schoolcashonline will be available all year long. Thank you to those that have
already contributed. If this is something you would like to consider, please
visit schoolcashonline.
School STAR Assembly- We will hold our first START
assembly on Monday to kick off our school safety week and to recognize are
STARs of the month.
Career Week- November 4th-8th
is Atlantic Canada Career Week. We are looking for parents (relatives) that
would be willing to come in and share what you do. Please contact the office if
