Hello MAS Families. Hard to
believe this week we say goodbye to April already. Let's hope those April
showers bring warm weather and May flowers. This week the students got to
see the drama group's dress rehearsal and were truly amazed by their peers
presentation. We are so proud of how well they performed at Drama Fest and for
all the hard work they put into learning their lines and roles for the play. I
would also like to say a BIG "Thank You" to Ms. Bush and Mrs. Penney
for all their time and dedication to working with this
wonderful group and preparing them to perform.
'May the Math be With You'- We will be springing into the month of
May with math! For the month of May we will be having a whole school focus on
numeracy with fun school wide activities. We will also be hosting a
student and parent night for parents to come and learn more about our math
curriculum and concepts your child is being taught. Please stay tuned for a
date and more details!
Reminders:
Tots N Taters- Unfortunately there
will be no Tots N Taters next week on Tuesday, April 30. The kitchen at Barkers
Point School remains closed. Students will be credited in June for any missed
days.
Breakfast Program- Tuesday (April
30, 2019) - Breakfast will be cereal and smoothies. When the
students arrive at school,
if they wish to come have breakfast, please remind them to come in our grade
3-5 door. We will take off our boots, put our coats and book bags in classroom then head down to the
gymnasium to enjoy breakfast together. When the bell rings and once students are
finished, they will head up to class to start their day with full bellies.
Flood Watch- As water levels are to rise
this weekend again, we will continue to open doors to students at 7:30am
to help parents that need to cross the bridge get to work on time.
Music Festival- Our Choir and grade 4/5 class will be
attending Music Festival at the Playhouse on May 2nd. Their performance begins
at 9am. Parents of those students are welcome to attend. There is no fee,
however they will be accepting donations at the door. We ask that students
dress in dark bottoms and will be wearing school tshirts.
No School Friday- Reminder there is no school Friday,
May 3. This is teacher Provincial Meeting day.
Bottle Return at Sholtens- For the past 7 years we have been
fortunate to have a parent volunteer watch over our bottle depot at Sholtens.
His child is now in middle school, but he graciously continued to help us
out. However, he informed us this past week that after the summer
months he will be unable to continue. We are looking for a parent or
parents that would be willing to take this on. This is a very big part of our
school raised funds. The duties include picking up bottles, taking them to
exchange depot and dropping money off at the school. Please contact the
school if you are interested in helping.
