Please note that online registration will be open on January 27, 2021. Registrations received by March 8, 2021 will inform planning for formation of classes (as per provincial Policy 309).
Immersion Entry Points:
Grade 1 French Immersion Program (offered where numbers warrant)
- In Grades 1 and 2, 90% of instruction will be in French. There will be an emphasis on oral language, followed by learning to read and write in French from the beginning of the program.
- In Grades 3 to 5, 80% of instruction will be in French and there will be 150 minutes per week of English Language Arts.
Grade 6 Late Immersion (offered where numbers warrant)
- In Grades 6 to 8, 70% of instruction is in French.
- English Language Arts is scheduled as part of the program.
Please Note: As per Provincial Policy 321, section 6.1.2, the Superintendent shall not admit a French-speaking or bilingual student to the French Immersion Program in English language schools.
If you reconsider your choice for French Immersion, return to the registration site and click on Withdraw from French Immersion. Your child will still have instruction in French second language as part of the English Prime program. This will include a 300-hour Intensive Block in grade 5.
English Prime Program
In grades K to 3, your child will participate in the French Language and Cultural Learning Experiences followed by instruction in French Second Language as part of the English Prime program from grades 4-12.
