New Brunswick Teen Apprenticeship Program - Grade 10 students

There is a new program for grade ten students called the New Brunswick Teen Apprenticeship Program (NBTAP).  NBTAP connects students to jobs in the skilled trades.  These jobs lead to careers.  Over three summer work terms, in their hometown, students get to learn the skills they need to land a job.  The NBTAP selection process is competitive and each student must provide a suitable reference together with an application signed by both the student and parent/guardian.  Student interest, capability for success in a skilled trade, and school marks and attendance records are also considered.  The ultimate hiring decision is made by each employer following a short interview with eligible students.

If you're a grade ten student who likes industrial arts, working with your hands, being active, meeting lots of people, and getting paid well for rewarding work, visit NBTAP.ca to find out if NBTAP might be right for you.

*special note - Available work placements vary depending on needs identified by local skilled trades employers.  There are currently no spots available for apprenticeship in our local area.  The NBTAP coordinators will be seeking out places for apprenticeship for future years.  However, if a grade ten student is able to stay, this summer, in an area that does have placements, then this might be an opportunity for that student. Check out NBTAP.ca for a listing of apprenticeship placements and more information.  Deadline for 2015 applications is March 31.

We're looking forward to this program establishing itself in our local area in the future.  It would be a great opportunity for students!
