Note to Drama Parents

I was so proud of everyone at Drama Fest. Excellent job! We were loud, stayed in character and knew our lines really well. Mr. Wright would have been proud!

We have one more performance on Friday, May 10th at CNHS at 6:30 as part of Music\Drama Night. Please have your child to the High School by 6:15.

Thanks for your support of this!

Note to Chess Parents

You may want to buy a Bugle-Observor (Tuesday, April 16th edition)  as there is an article in the paper about the Provincial and District Chess Tournament. The first article is about the Provincial Chess tournament but if you flip the page there is also a short article about the District Chess Tournament.

Dipthongs

This week we have been learning about dipthongs, not to be confussed with digraphs that we learned about at Christmas time. It is really a grade two concept, however, it is introduced in grade one. Some of these sounds have been causing problems in guided reading and writing so it was a good time to introduce the concept. Below are some links to some websites that have been helping us.

Note for Drama Club Members

Drama Fest is almost here! We had a practice on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Things are going well and we are almost ready. However, please remind your child to practice their lines and to know when they need to speak. The dress rehearsal for the dress rehearsal will be Monday at noon and I still had to prompt eight students yesterday. I can't do that at Drama Fest! Thanks for your help with this.

Splash Pants Please!

I had 45 minutes of outside duty today. I managed to stay dry and mud free but I think I was the only one! No matter how much I remind the kids to stay out of the water and mud, they just can't seem to stop themself! So please, if possible, make sure your child has rubber boots and splash pants until the playground dries up. Also, each child should have a complete change of clothing (especially socks) in their cubby or bookbag. I think tomorrow we will read "The Mud Puddle" by Robert Munsch.

Flood at LEGO City!

Your child may come home today and tell you that there was a flood at LEGO city on the weekend. We had outgrown the LEGO table so on the weekend I tried to move the houses to a larger table. Unfortunatly, that didn't work as the baseplates were taped to the table and the houses got demolished in the process. So today was a day of rebuilding. I tied this into our You & Your World outcomes for the month about changes in our natural environments and seasonal changes.
