Weekly update

Hi there Grade 5 families!

Welcome to a fresh new year at Park Street! I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing break. I am looking forward to working lots of fun things with the students this term. Below are the homework items and updates for the fresh term:

  • Reading 15 minutes per night in French really helps students progress - the kids have been encouraged to revamp their nightly efforts and to take their time choosing and changing books to bring home
  • Xtra-math: All student accounts for Xtra-math hace been set to work on Multiplication and Division facts as we we will be working on these functions next!
  • January is Compassion month at PSS. We will be discussing during our classroom meetings and school-wide assembly January 17th
  • In Social Studies we will be starting a new unit on the Middle Ages. We will be primarily exploring the social structure during the Middle Ages (feudal system) and comparing/contrasting with social structures today.
  • In literacy, students will be working towards writing an adventure narrative to go along with our Middle Ages theme. We will also be spending lots of time reading and summarizing narrative texts.
  • There will be no library this week due to some exciting changes taking place! The big reveal will be next week!
Upcoming dates:
  • Jan. 16th Parent meeting for Grade 5 celebration (7 p.m.)
  • Jan 17th - School ARCC Assembly (Compassion)
  • Jan 30th - Bell Let's Talk Day (Mental Health Awareness)
Have a great week!
