​Hi there Grade 5 families:

This weekend we sure had some beautiful weather. I hope you had the chance to get out and enjoy some of it with your family. Here are your updates for this week:

Please return the last page of the report card signed by both yourself and your student. Consider having your child take a moment to reflect on their learnig and future goals in the space provided. 

Sciences: We have just begun discussing the weather.  In this unit, we will be working towards doing a weather report (un bulletin météorologique). To work our way toward this end-goal, we will be practicing listening, reading, and writing about various tyoes of weather. Students will be writing about the weather in a weather journal, listening to various French weather reports, and reading sample weather reports. With this practice, students will also reinforce their reading fluency, expression, and animation skills. Look for more updates as we progress!

A note re: homework: Please ensure your child is doing their best to read and to practice a bit of math every night. On occasion, there may be other homework items such as project research or materials required.

Maths: The website for math that you were asked to register on and where students use their PIN # to log in and practice basic math facts is: https://xtramath.org/#/signin/classroom. On this site, students advance once mastery of each level is attained. Another math site which is great to use is: https://www.logicieleducatif.fr/math/numeration/nombreschiffres.php - here students can practice other skills such as how to represent numbers from 1 - 1 000 000, math problems, basic facts, geometry, math games, etc.
