​Hello families,

Today in our flex math group we practiced a new strategy for addition: gauche à droite (left to right).  Below is an example of the left to right strategy. Many students really enjoyed using this strategy!​ Feel free to practice at home using 3 or 4 digit numbers (or greater!) depending on your child's comfort level. 

Next week we will be continuing to practice addition/subtraction strategies in problem-solving contexts. Our focus will be on determining key vocabulary in word problems to determine whether we should be using addition or subtraction to find the answer.

A reminder as well to keep practicing basic addition/subtraction facts whenever possible as it makes solving more complex equations much easier!
