International Student Program

Nackawic High School, in partnership with Atlantic Education International, has been participating in the New Brunswick International Student Program, hosting a student from Germany for each of the past two years. Last year 601 international students from 14 countries attended 54 middle and high schools across the province.  This program provides many benefits to both host students and visiting students as they both get to learn about and appreciate different cultures. We are seeking host families to welcome international students into their homes. Specifically, we are trying to find host families for international students for second semester, beginning in late January until late June, 2019. Visiting students live with a host family, attend regular classes at Nackawic High School and participate in extra-curricular and community activities for the duration of their visit. A host family does not need to have a child who currently attends Nackawic High School. Many grandparents, single adults and empty-nesters have volunteered to host students. There is also a financial incentive for host families to help compensate for the extra expense of welcoming a guest for an extended period. If you are interested in hosting an International student next semester, if you have any questions about the program, or if you would like more information about the responsibilities of host families, please contact Sean Newlands at 575-6042 or by email at sean.newlands@nbed.nb.ca. Please share this information with any family or friends that may be interested in hosting as well.
