This was sent
from the Minister to all student families with a request to consider
assuming transportation to and from school as a family instead of taking
the bus:
Message to Parents and Guardians,
To reduce the number of children using student transportation, the
Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and the school
districts are asking for your help. Starting in September, to reduce the risk
of COVID-19, there will be fewer seats available on each bus.
We are asking parents and guardians, if possible, to provide their own
transportation by dropping off and picking up their child from school, whenever
possible.
Can you help? If you can, please go to the following link https://www.nbed.nb.ca/parentportal/en/Transportation/Option/
and complete the form before 5 p.m. on Friday, August 7th. You will need your
child's name and date of birth, student number (provided above) and the contact
email that you normally use to communicate with your child's school.
We are asking every family to identify what transportation they will
not require from the school district:
· My
child does not require morning school bus pick-up;
· My
child does not require afternoon school bus drop-off; or
· My
child does not require use of a school bus.
This will apply for the whole 2020-21 school year.
It's important to emphasize that school districts will provide
transportation to eligible students.
If your ability to transport your child changes, let your school
district know as soon as possible. In an emergency, transportation will be
provided to students who need it.
If you have any questions, please call 1-833-901-1963 from 8:00 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday or send an email at EECDRTS-EDPERAE@gnb.ca
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we live through
the COVID-19 pandemic. Your help in providing safe transportation for your
child is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
