​This week, we are beginning to plan our first formal writing piece. Students are being asked to demonstrate their ability to use sensory details in a short text on a topic of their choosing. The goal of the text is to "magnify a moment," whereby students use descriptive (sensory) language to describe an event (real or fictional), person, or thing. See attached document for topic suggestions, examples and the graphic organizer we will use to plan our writing piece. Students should have their topics chosen by the end of the day on Tuesday, with planning to begin as soon as a topic is chosen. Students will follow the writing procedure (planning, drafting, editing, polishing) to complete this text.
