Good afternoon! 

We, Mme Cindy Fraser and Mme Bourgeois, are your child’s French Immersion (FI) teachers and we teach them Math, Sciences (Bourgeois), FILA and Sc. Humaines (Fraser). To facilitate effective communication between school and home, we plan to send updates such as the one attached approximately once a month to keep you informed regarding general topics under study and projects in progress. We hope this will help you check in with your child regularly regarding their learning. We do believe that, in grade 8, the responsibility of schoolwork and learning should rest primarily with the student, but we recognize many students still need a little extra support/prompting in this regard.  

In addition to the monthly updates, we also feel it is important that you can follow your child’s academic progress by viewing their student work, in particular the many assessments that students complete throughout the year. Because the frequency and type of assessments vary from one subject to the next, our plan is to send emails to you anytime we send anything home for you to look at with your child. It will be very helpful for you to ask your child to see these documents as viewing the actual work produced and assessed should give you a good sense of their progress throughout the year. Of course, if we have concerns about your child’s progress, we will definitely contact you and we encourage you to do the same with us! We are all working together to ensure the academic, social, and emotional growth of our kids!
