Creeker Family Memo # 10-Monday, Week of October 26, 2020

Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good evening Creeker Parents:

Driving reminder – Please be  vigilant when you are driving down Golf Club Road. Our crossing  guard was almost struck today when she was in the middle of the crosswalk. Please keep your eyes on the road and drive slowly at all times in that area.  On the plus side, “Miss Anne”  tells me that our students know exactly how to wait before they cross and that the vehicles are exiting much better from the school😊

School Pictures – Picture day was well executed and our students gave us their best smiles! Proofs will be distributed in a week to ten days and you can place your orders at that time.

Scholastic Virtual Book Fair – We still love book fairs but this year it will have to be virtual.  This will run Nov 16th to the 20th. You will be supplied with a link closer to that time and all orders will be shipped to your home. We also earn back 20% so.. Save up  some of those Christmas purchases for our book fair ! Details coming later.

UNB Interns – Welcome to three UNB interns joining the Creek! They will be in Mr Burnett’s, Mme. Doyle and Mme Cairns classes.

No school this Friday – a reminder of the Professional Learning day this Friday

Trick or Eat – Thank you for your donations! We still have all week for anyone who would like to continue to donate items

Creeker Family Memo #9 - Week of Monday, October 19th, 2020

Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good afternoon Families,

We have lots going on this coming week – Safe Schools Week,  picture day and the start of Trick or Eat 😊

NO SCHOOL OCTOBER 30 our Department of Education in conjunction with Districts have made the decision that staff in schools will be involved in professional learning around digital learning. This is to better prepare them to support your children in the case of having to move into a “learning from home” situation throughout the year.

Music – Ms. Dias continues to impress us with her energy and creativity in Music class! Please see the attached letter in regard to what is requested for homemade instruments for this month. October Music Kit Letter 2020.pdfOctober Music Kit Letter 2020.pdf. Thank you

Safe Schools Week –we will be performing safety drills this coming week. One change is to our Evacuation to Another Site. We no longer have to do the full walk. We will only be walking down to our entranceway from the field rather than walking down the Woodstock Road to Sansom’s Equipment.   Please refer to my last memo for the full info on the drills.

School Pictures – These are on Thursday. I am assured that they will be “covid friendly” as far as procedures from Harvey’s.

Home and School Meeting  – last shout out for anyone who wants to get in on the committee. Please let me know via an email ( Katherine.campbell@nbed.nb.ca)  Meeting is this coming Tuesday on Teams.

Trick or Eat Challenge! The  Trick or Eat food drive will start this Thursday. Please see the attachment with items that we would like your family to consider donating if possible. Trick or Eat Food Challege (2020 - 2021) (003).pdfTrick or Eat Food Challege (2020 - 2021) (003).pdf

This has always been a wonderful way for students to contribute to the wellness of those in our greater Fredericton community and also demonstrates Global Citizenship.

Creeker Family Memo #8- Monday, October 12th, 2020

Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good morning Creeker Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and the weather. A few notes for you:

Bussing  Safety Note–if your child is in grade 3-5 and take the bus, please meet them at the stop after school  or write a note for the school and the driver stating that you give permission for your child to walk home from the stop. Otherwise, if an adult is not at the stop, just as with K-2, the driver will need to bring them back to the school. Safety first!

Masks –   A reminder that students need to have 2  clean masks  for school every day, one of those being  in your child’s book bag as the extra one)  We have been going through a number of masks on our part for students who  may have forgotten theirs (and we all forget things from time to time, so we do understand )  .  Thank you for your help.

Survey for Parents/Guardians– Wow!  At least 200 of you have already responded to the tech survey .. but  a reminder to answer the survey that was sent out by Mme Robichaud  and the teachers last week. Please click on this link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=318rTdLEEUmHCWjML0Zcn60poYr1Gx9LjBSbzUZaLIJURFJXSDQwUDFXNENEVUc4QjBONjFMV1lCNi4u

Safe Schools Weekthe District Safe Schools Week is being held next week, October 19 – 23rd. For information purposes, I am attaching a letter that outlines the type of drills we will be undertaking that week and the dates for those drills. Garden Creek Safe Schools Week Letter to Parents 2020.docGarden Creek Safe Schools Week Letter to Parents 2020.doc

Please let me know if you have any concerns. Thank you.

Teaching Excellence Award Nomination–  We are very fortunate to have a strong staff at Garden Creek..if you feel one of our  educators is making a significant difference in the lives of ASD-W students, then this is a great opportunity to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to their profession. To honour them, if you feel so inclined, you could complete a nomination form for the Teaching in Excellence Award.  2020 Ministers Excellence in Education Awards Nomination Form.pdf2020 Ministers Excellence in Education Awards Nomination Form.pdf

The nomination form and additional information can be found at the EECD website at:https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/education/k12/content/anglophone_sector/awards.html and anomination form that can be completed electronically is also attached for your convenience.

We will once again be participating in our annual Creeker Trick or Eat Food Challenge. This is especially worthy this year as we know more families in the greater Fredericton area may need support.  Families will be encouraged to drop off specific food items  for the food bank throughout the weeks of October 30 – More to come on this . Thank you for your support as we move forward.

Home and School Committee! –A reminder that you can always join our Home and School Committee – we need help thinking outside the box in how we can support the school with financial needs while at the same time having fun in a new way! Please contact me at 453-5409 or email me atKatherine.campbell@nbed.nb.ca

Creekers Family - Please Respond

As we start the new school year, the province, the district and our school are looking for accurate, updated information to support you with home learning, should that be needed at any time this school year.

Please fill in the survey at the link below. We will need you to fill out this information for each child separately. We must get a response from every family, for each child.

If you could complete the survey  immediately, that would be very helpful.  Be assured that the survey will likely take less than one minute. We need this information as soon as possible.

Creeker Family Memo #7-Monday-October 5th 2020

Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good afternoon, Creeker Families

We are certainly “falling” into learning at the Creek with  4 weeks already complete of our new school year!

A few items for you:

Safety issue :

Exiting the school driveway –  Our crossing guard, Ann Draper, is phenomenal – she is caring, positive and takes her work seriously to ensure your children are safe when crossing the road to the school and home. Please help her out by remembering  to NOT turn right until anyone who is in the crosswalk is across the street or Ann is back at  her post.

Warm clothing – It can be a bit chilly now on our playground. You may want to consider sending your child with a pair of mitts for those colder days.

PSSC  - We still have a couple of spots open on our Parent School Support Committee. Meetings take place virtually on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Our next meeting is October 27th.  If you would be interested in being part of the committee, please contact the school 453-5409 or email me at katherine.campbell@nbed.nb.ca   Thank you to our parents who have signed on again or are new to the committee.

Home and School Meeting – We will soon be having our first Home and School Meeting and will be trying this virtually on TEAMS. More to come, but we are looking potentially at having this on Tuesday the 20th of October at 6:30 pm. If you would like to join, please contact me ( as above) so that I can add you to the TEAMS invite.

Outdoor Learning ! Are  there any parents interested in becoming part of our outdoor learning community? Would you be willing to help develop and groom our forest trail, help make or bring in seating for the forest, help in the outdoor school garden? These are just ideas as we develop our plan and see what interest there is.If you are interested in helping then please reach out to Emily Greenwell ( emily.greenwell@nbed.nb.ca ) or Alex McLeod ( alex.mcleod@nbed.nb.ca)

Kindergarten Registration – parents can register their children for Kindergarten the week of October 13 and 19. Please see the attachments to help prepare youWelcome future Creekers!!  K Poster 21-22.pdfK Poster 21-22.pdf K Reg 21-22.PNGK Reg 21-22.PNG
